  • Publication number: 20190350067
Abstract: An emergency lighting system including an auxiliary power supply, a plurality of lights including a first group of lights and a second group of lights, a driver configured to provide power, a switching circuit, a relay, and a controller. The switching circuit includes a driver input configured to receive power from the driver, an auxiliary power input configured to receive power from the auxiliary power supply, an emergency control input. The has a first position, in which power from the driver is provided to the first group of lights and the second group of lights; and a second position, in which power from the auxiliary power supply is provided to the second group of lights. The controller is configured to output a signal to the emergency control input when an input voltage is below a threshold. Wherein, the switching circuit places the relay in the second position upon receiving the signal at the emergency control input.

  • Publication number: 20190313896
Abstract: A system for conducting an examination of the eyes of a subject includes an examination instrument which emits light at infrared wavelengths, and a shield. The shield provides shielding of the subject's eyes from visible wavelengths. At least a portion of the shield is transparent to the infrared wavelengths emitted by the examination instrument. A related method of conducting an eye examination on a subject includes the step of providing a shield which is transparent to infrared wavelengths but nontransparent to visible wavelengths. The method also includes the step of carrying out the examination with an instrument which is located on the examiner facing side of the shield and which emits the infrared wavelengths to which the shield is transparent. One variant of the method determines parameters relating to the subject's eyes and/or vision using only information considered to be valid, validity being based on the subject's pupil diameter.

  • Publication number: 20190247206
Abstract: A stent device includes generally cylindrical rings aligned along a longitudinal axis, and interconnected by interconnecting members. Each interconnecting member includes a first coupling end, a second coupling end, and an elongate portion therebetween. The first coupling end, the elongate portion, and the second coupling end combine in either a first orientation or a second orientation, which are substantially mirror images. For each interconnecting member, the first coupling end can intersect with a midpoint of a transition region of a substantially repeating curved segment on one of the rings, and the second coupling end can intersect with a midpoint of a curved segment of a different and immediately adjacent ring. The interconnecting members can be arranged in rows extending longitudinally along the device. Along each row, consecutive interconnected members alternate between the first orientation and the second orientation. A cover may be provided over the stent device.

  • Publication number: 20190162601
Abstract: A protective cover for an insertion probe of a medical instrument. The cover contains a flexible tubular body that compliments the probe geometry and a radially disposed flange that surrounds the proximal end of the body. A series of snap-on fasteners removably connect the cover to the instrument. A camming surface is located on the outer face of the flange which coacts with a cam follower that is movably mounted upon the instrument to flex the cover sufficiently to open the fastener and release the cover from the instrument and move the cover axially toward the distal end of the tip.

  • Publication number: 20190125183
Abstract: A vision screening apparatus conducts a photorefraction ocular screening test to generate refractive error data. Based on the refractive error data, a Snellen equivalent is determined. An evaluated person distance from the vision screening apparatus is also determined and used to generate an adjusted optotype size. The vision screening apparatus displays the optotype, adjusted for the Snellen equivalent and the evaluated person distance.

  • Patent number: 10226371
Abstract: A drainage stent delivery system including an elongate shaft of a medial device, a drainage catheter or stent, and an interference fit member for selectively coupling the drainage stent to the elongate shaft. The drainage stent is selectively coupled to a distal portion of the elongate shaft by an interference fit between the interference fit member and the drainage stent such that axial movement of the elongate shaft relative to the drainage stent moves the interference fit member from a first position in which the interference fit member is engaged with the drainage stent and forms an interference fit with the drainage stent to a second position in which the interference fit member is disengaged from the drainage stent.

Abstract: A subject monitoring system operates to detect a current status of a subject in a subject arrangement area, such as on a bed, and predict an upcoming status of the subject. The system includes a subject status detection device that may use a radar signal. A radar signal is transmitted toward the subject and is used to detect a subject status, such as a subject position, a subject incontinence condition, and a physiological condition of the subject. One example of the radar signal includes a millimeter wave.

  • Patent number: 10165984
Abstract: A method of determining a value indicative of a hemodynamic parameter of a patient includes performing a plurality of value determinations. Performing the plurality of value determinations includes determining a first value indicative of the hemodynamic parameter, determining, with a controller, a difference between the first value and a baseline associated with the first value, and replacing the baseline with the first value, in a memory of the controller, if the difference is outside of a predetermined range. The method also includes determining an estimate of the hemodynamic parameter based on acceptable values determined during the plurality of value determinations.

  • Patent number: 10145586
Abstract: A flameless heater includes a diesel engine, a hydraulic or electric load that is powered by the diesel engine thereby generating heat, a heat exchanger that transfers heat to air flowing through the air from the flameless heat source, and possibly other heat exchangers for heating the air flowing therethrough with engine coolant and/or with exhaust gases. The system may be operated to maintain relatively high load on the engine for at least the majority of the time so as to reduce or negate the need for parked regeneration. The system may also control airflow through the system and possibly other system parameters to obtain a given setpoint such as a given discharge air temperature. In one embodiment, airflow through the system is controlled by louvers under the power of an electric motor or other actuator controlled by the system's controller.
