    Abstract: This invention relates to a method, system and apparatus for detecting when an animal is in heat. The invention further relates to a method of alerting a responsible individual that the animal is in heat. The method for detecting when an animal is in heat comprises the steps of, using a sensor mounted on a bull, monitoring the activity of the bull in the proximity of the animal. Thereafter, the activity of the bull is analysed before finally it is determined, based on the analysed activity of the bull, whether or not the animal is in heat. The invention shifts the focus from the animal, such as a cow, to the bull and leans on the natural instincts of the bull to determine when the cow is in heat. By implementing such a system, a more reliable and/or less expensive system than many of the existing offerings is provided.

The processor derives the rotational position signal making a correction to compensate for the effect of the motion of the platform on the measurements on the basis of the overall series of measurements buffered in the buffer.

    Abstract: Images of the face of a subject are captured by an imaging system comprising at least three directional energy sources (e.g. a light sources), and an imaging assembly which captures the images from spatially separated viewpoints. Each eye portion of the face is modelled using specular reflections (“glints”) in at least some of the images to fit the parameters of a three-dimensional parameterized model of the eye surface. Additionally, using at least some the images, a photometric modelling process generates a second model of a skin and/or hair portion of the face. A face model is produced by combining the second model and the eye models. The resulting face model may be used to generate images of the face in relation to an object intended to be used in proximity to the face, such as an item of eyewear. The face model may also be used to design and produce the object.

    Abstract: Provided herein is a tobacco recovery machine that automatically removes and separates a tobacco rod from formed cigarettes and slits the tipping paper surrounding the tobacco rod. The tobacco recovery machine includes a hopper that receives cigarettes. A feed mechanism individually feeds the cigarettes from the hopper and through a chopping mechanism that removes the filter rod from each cigarette leaving the cylindrical tobacco rod wrapped in the tipping paper. The tobacco recovery machine next feeds the tobacco rod of the cigarette through a slitting mechanism that slits the tipping paper wrapping surrounding the tobacco. The slitting mechanism axially slits the tipping paper along the tobacco rod such that the tobacco product can separate from the tipping paper.
