The article includes a topsheet formed of a section of formed nonwoven web material having an ordered arrangement of zones, each zone comprising one or more attenuated regions adjacent to one or more built-up regions, wherein the attenuated regions have a first average basis weight and the built-up regions have a second average basis weight, wherein the first average basis weight is less than the second average basis weight, the difference in basis weights corresponding to disposition of the filaments according to the ordered arrangement. The attenuated region(s) may be included within a configuration of one or more channel portions on the topsheet. Alternatively or in combination, the attenuated region(s) may be included within a hinge portion extending along a wing portion of the topsheet.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, is described herein. The topsheet is a two layer composite or laminate web having a first layer and a second layer. The composite or laminate has a first plurality of apertures and a second plurality of apertures, wherein the first plurality of apertures have sidewalls that extend in a first direction, wherein the second plurality of apertures have sidewalls that extend in second direction that is different than the first direction, and wherein the composite or laminate also includes a plurality of embossments which extend in a third direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A method for making apertures in a precursor web using a forming apparatus is described herein. The precursor web comprises a film layer and a nonwoven layer having molecular orientation and the forming apparatus comprises an arrangement of teeth. The forming apparatus heats and stretches the precursor web forming apertures therein.

The conforming features may be provided to the absorbent article in a variety of zones to allow for customizable conformance in particular regions of the absorbent article. And, the provision of these zones can also allow for customizable fluid kinetics in particular regions of the absorbent article.

Abstract: An absorbent has longitudinal and lateral centerlines, first, second, and target regions, the target region being disposed between the first second regions. Each of the first, second target regions extend laterally across the disposable absorbent article. The disposable absorbent article also has a topsheet; a backsheet; an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet; a fluid management layer disposed between the topsheet and absorbent core; and a target zone disposed in the target region.
