  • Publication number: 20090043230
Abstract: The present invention relates to a biomechanical monitoring apparatus (1) which includes a mounting means adapted to allow the apparatus to be worn by a user and a motion a detection means (2) adapted to detect the motion of a user when the apparatus is worn. The apparatus also includes an accumulation means (4) adapted to indicate the extent of motion activity completed by a user since a specific time. The invention also relates to a method of using such apparatus where the extent of motion activity completed is compared against at least one movement activity threshold level to potentially activate an alarm indicator when such thresholds are exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6084505
Abstract: A method and apparatus for electronically controlling an electric fence energizer. The method is characterized by the step of sending a user selectable coded signal along an electric fence line to the electric fence energizer, said coded signal causing the state of the electric fence energizer to change. The coded signal may come in a variety of forms, and in one embodiment the coded signal may comprise a number of short pulses sent predetermined times apart. Other types of signals may be sent with variations in amplitude or other differentiating characteristics. A coded signal that varies in the time domain is preferred due to signal attenuation. According to a preferred aspect of the present invention, a signalling device for interaction with a fence system is provided. The device has a power supply, signal producing means, and control means for the signal producing means.

  • Patent number: 6031870
Abstract: A method and device for detecting on an electric fence system a communication signal from a total signal including noise and also electrical interference from electrical energizer pulses supplied to the fence. A signal detector detects, directly or indirectly, the level of noise or electrical interference in the total signal on the system, at least one of a filter associated with the signal detector and the amplitude of the total signal received is adjusted until the threshold of the filter blocks sufficient electric noise so that a sufficient part of the total signal received after filtering is the communication signal, and the adjustment of the filter threshold is not dependent on the communication signal alone. The validity of the communication signal is checked and the electrical energizer pulses are transmitted on the fence system in coordination with reception of the communication signals to reduce the interference.

  • Patent number: 5973413
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting energy pulses in a conductive fence system which includes two or more conductive lines (1-4), one or more pulse generators (A-D) capable of transmitting energy pulses along each conductive line, and junction points (5-8) where the conductive lines are in contact or close physical proximity to each other. Operation of the energy pulse generators (A-D) are coordinated to ensure that the effective pulses in the vicinity of a junction point (5-8) are within a predetermined pulse rate and magnitude range.
