  • Publication number: 20130312314
Abstract: An insect catching device (10) which comprises a housing (20). A radiation source (30) which attracts insects is mounted inside the housing (20) and an insect catching member (40) is located within the housing (10). The insect catching member has a catching surface (402) on which an amount of an adhesive material is provided. The front portion (22) of the housing (20) defines an aperture (25, 26, 27) which allows insects to enter the housing (20) and be caught on the adhesive material (404). The housing (20) defines a vent (28) located separately from the aperture (25, 26, 27) and positioned to created an airflow into the housing (20) by convection resulting from the heat generated by the radiation source (30) during use of the device (10).

  • Patent number: 7383660
Abstract: An insect trap having a rear cover attached to a wall which is connected to a separate and removable front cover. The front cover can be primarily round in shape with a plurality of slats and a shiny exterior appearance. An adhesive member, such as a sticky board, can be attached to the rear surface of the front cover. A light bulb is disposed within a ballast/socket member attached to the front of the rear cover. Once plugged in, light from the bulb is primarily and substantially retained within the trap by its capture in view of the rounded ends of the rear cover. The light illuminates the trap itself to attract insects to the area between the rear and front covers where the adhesive member is positioned.

  • Publication number: 20020073611
Abstract: An insect catching device includes a source of radiation having a wavelength that is suitable for attracting insects, and an immobilizer component by which insects entering the device are caught. The device includes a casing having a top, a bottom, front and back walls of which at least one is formed as a grille so that it has openings formed in it through which insects can enter the device, and end walls. The grille has a main portion which provides the front and back walls, and end portions which extend inwardly from the main portion. The end walls of the casing are each provided by the end portions of the front and back wall grilles and by a member which extends between the top and bottom of the casing and has at least one cut-out corresponding in shape to one of the end portions of the front and back wall grilles so that the end portions fit into the cut-outs.
