Patent number: 12575723Abstract: A bougie having the dimensions of a standard bougie used widely by first responders is further configured to emit tight with an intensity that transilmminates a patient's neck; thus the position of the bougie is visible to the first responder when placed in the patient's airway. The bougie includes a light source, which may be a luminescent chemical combination contained in a chamber of the bougie. The luminescent chemical may have a high intensity and a short duration. The light source may be a light-emitting diode powered by an onboard battery and emitting light into a fiber-optic cable that emits light from the distal end and/or from interruptions in a reflecting coating that allows transverse exit of some of the light. The light source may be a chemilmninescent material or compound. All components of the bougie are sized to pass through an endotracheal tube without removing any of the components.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2017Date of Patent: March 17, 2026Inventors: John Loewen, Frank LoVecchio, Keith A. Publication number: 20250196710Abstract: The disclosure is directed at an apparatus for an active converter dolly for use in a tractor-trailer configuration. In one aspect, the apparatus includes a system to connect a first trailer towed behind a towing vehicle to a second trailer. The apparatus further includes a kinetic energy recovery device for translating the mechanical motions or actions of the dolly into electricity or electrical energy so that this energy can be used to charge a battery or to power other functionality for either the dolly or the tractor-trailer. The active dolly may also operate to assist in shunting the tractor-trailer. The active dolly is operable in a number of modes to increase vehicle performance and efficiency.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2025Publication date: June 19, 2025Inventors: Brian Layfield, Amir Khajepour, Brian Fan, John Loewen

Patent number: 7184072Abstract: A system and apparatus for acquiring images of electric transmission line tower structures, equipment attached to said tower structures, and transmission lines suspended from said towers. The system uses a fixed wing aircraft and an arrangement of at least one still camera, means for detecting a tower structure, a data storage unit, and a central processing unit containing operational software. The central processing unit is connected to the camera, the means for detecting a tower structure, and the storage unit. The detection means is a laser altimeter or a combination of preset longitude/latitude coordinates for tower locations and a GPS unit which supplies continuous longitude/latitude coordinates for the aircraft location for comparison to those preset coordinates. The aircraft is flown along the transmission line at a predetermined altitude above the tops of said towers (60–100 feet).Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2002Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Power View Company, L.L.C.Inventors: John Loewen, Mark Reimer
