  • Patent number: 8738664
Abstract: A method for generating diagnostic test files associated with a battery pack is provided. The method includes providing a diagnostic test data table having a plurality of records. A first record is associated with a first diagnostic test. The first record has a first parameter identifier and a first value. The method further includes generating a diagnostic test parameter configuration file having a data structure associated with the first diagnostic test by accessing the diagnostic test data table. The data structure has a first parameter variable that is set equal to the first value. The method further includes generating a diagnostic test software source code file based on the diagnostic test parameter configuration file utilizing a kernel translator program.

  • Publication number: 20110258126
Abstract: A method for determining a warranty obligation of a supplier to an OEM for a vehicle battery pack of a vehicle is provided. The battery pack was previously purchased by the OEM from the supplier. The method includes retrieving an operational parameter associated with a component of the vehicle battery pack or a battery management system. The method further includes determining whether the operational parameter is less than or equal to a threshold value. The method further includes reimbursing the OEM or crediting a financial account associated with the OEM for at least a portion of the cost of the replacement battery pack by the supplier if the operational parameter is less than or equal to the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20060137643
Abstract: A vehicle engine control having an automatic start and stop feature for idling the engine to maintain the battery charge includes adjustment for the battery voltage threshold at which the engine is started to recharge the battery. Preferably, the adjustment results from use of an ambient air temperature sensor and a look up table in the control that varies the threshold based on a predetermined relationship between battery voltage and ambient air temperature.

  • Publication number: 20050066659
Abstract: A method for controlling condensation in an engine. A set of signals indicative of an intake manifold temperature, intake manifold pressure, intake air temperature, intake air humidity, engine speed, and exhaust gas mask flow rate is provided. A critical value that indicates that condensation could occur is calculated. The critical value is compared to a predetermined threshold value or range. An exhaust gas recirculation valve is closed if the critical value exceeds the predetermined threshold value or range. The exhaust gas recirculation valve is opened if the predetermined threshold value or range is not exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20050071074
Abstract: A method and system for indirectly estimating ambient air temperature. The ambient air temperature is estimated based on filtering a temperature input from a turbocharger air inlet sensor. The filtering includes compensating for engine compartment temperature variations which vary relative to the actual ambient temperature.

  • Publication number: 20050066658
Abstract: A method for controlling an internal combustion engine having a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system in the face of sensor failures and mechanical faults includes generating accurate substitute values for use by the engine control logic when EGR and VGT system-related sensors are diagnosed as having failed during operation, and maintaining controlled performance of the VGT system in the face of sensor failures or mechanical faults associated with the EGR or VGT system.

  • Publication number: 20050049819
Abstract: A method and system for controlling engine temperature by derating torque output of the engine. The method and system operate in cooperation with an electronic control module which is programmable for controlling temperature in the engine by derating maximum engine torque output based on an engine temperature rate of change. This permits the derating to be finely tuned to maximize available torque.
