  • Publication number: 20070234667
Abstract: A method of forming a building wall system in the absence of building paper or housewrap that comprises providing a generally flat structural insulating sheathing. The sheathing comprises at least a first layer, a second layer and a third layer. The first and third layers comprises an alkenyl aromatic polymer foam. The second layer comprises paperboard. The insulating sheathing is fastened to the stud wall to form the building wall system such that a seal is formed that inhibits water from penetrating therethrough. The building wall system in the absence of building paper or housewrap passes the test requirements set forth in Section 1403.2 of the 2003 International Building Code.

  • Publication number: 20060236641
Abstract: A sheathing adapted to be fastened to at least one wall supporting structure comprises at least two layers. The first layer comprises a polymeric foam layer. The second layer comprises a polymeric scrim and is located adjacent to the first layer. The second layer has a first portion and a second portion. The second portion is located near the periphery of the polymeric scrim layer. The first portion has a first machine direction (MD) scrim count number and a first transverse direction (TD) scrim count number, and the second portion has a second MD scrim count number and a second TD scrim count number. At least one of the second MD scrim count number and the second TD scrim count number is greater than the respective first MD scrim count number or the first TD scrim count number so as to inhibit failure of the scrim.

  • Publication number: 20060211321
Abstract: A protective drainage wrap comprises a cross-woven material portion, cross-laminate material portion or mesh material portion in first and second directions and a breathable solid layer portion. The material in the first and second directions comprises a polyolefin, polyester, nylon or combinations thereof. The first direction being roughly perpendicular to the second direction. The cross-woven, cross-laminate or mesh material portions being adapted to facilitate a drainage path. The breathable solid layer portion is attached to the cross-woven material portion, cross-laminate material portion or mesh material portion. The breathable solid layer portion is adapted to allow water vapor to flow therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20060194494
Abstract: A protective drainage wrap comprises a porous layer, a breathable solid layer portion and a plurality of fibers, filaments, tapes or yarn. The porous layer is adapted to allow water to pass therethrough. The breathable solid layer portion is adapted to allow water vapor to pass therethrough while preventing or inhibiting water from passing therethrough. The plurality of fibers, filaments, tapes or yarn is located between and attached to the porous layer and the breathable solid layer portion. The plurality of fibers, filaments, tapes or yarn forms a plurality of channels to assist in forming a drainage path for draining liquid water from the protective drainage wrap.

  • Publication number: 20060194495
Abstract: A protective drainage wrap comprises a polymeric spunbonded portion being adapted to allow water vapor to flow therethrough and a plurality of fibers, filaments, tapes or yarn being attached to the polymeric spunbonded portion. The plurality of fibers, filaments, tapes or yarn forms a plurality of channels to assist in forming a drainage path for draining liquid moisture from the protective drainage wrap.

  • Publication number: 20050287338
Abstract: A protective drainage wrap includes a mesh and a coating applied to the mesh. The coating is applied to the mesh to form a plurality of interstices, the interstices being configured to facilitate transfer of water vapor therethrough. The mesh includes material extending in a first direction and in a second direction. The material in the first direction includes a polyolefin, polyester, nylon or combinations thereof and has a first thickness. The material in the second direction includes a polyolefin, polyester, nylon or combinations thereof and has a second thickness. The second thickness is at least about twice the first thickness so as to assist in providing drainage for moisture build-up. The material in the second direction can be yarn. The coating includes a polyolefin, polyester, nylon or combinations thereof. A process for the preparation of the protective drainage wrap is provided.

  • Publication number: 20050247023
Abstract: A sheathing adapted to be fastened to at least one wall supporting structure comprises at least two layers. The first layer comprises a polymeric foam layer. The second layer comprises a polymeric scrim and is located adjacent to the first layer. The second layer reinforces its periphery so as to inhibit the failure of the scrim. The reinforced periphery may include a selvage tuck or a folded-edge.
