Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems, and computer-readable storage mediums are provided for use with a clinical decision support system for identifying and providing information regarding associations between patient attributes and one or more Adverse Events (AEs). In one example, a process includes processing database information comprising AEs and one or more patient attributes for associations between AEs and patient attributes and identifying at least one association between one or more AEs and one or more patient attributes. The association(s) may be discovered through an association rule discovery process to determine one or more association rules, where each association rule satisfies a confidence, support, and/or other threshold. The exemplary process further provides information or alerts to a user based on the identified or discovered association(s).

Abstract: An automated method for ontology generation is provided. In one embodiment, a user inputs a single clinical term or portion of a clinical term representing an adverse event that a patient has experienced. In response, the system causes a list of conceptually related terms to be generated.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a medical assessment support system. In one embodiment, a user inputs a query that identifies an adverse event that a patient has experienced and the ailments (diseases, disorders, symptoms, conditions etc.) that the patient has experienced. In response, the system causes one or more database searches to be performed to identify one or more possible causes of the adverse event for a patient with the identified ailments. In another embodiment, the user inputs a combination of one or more drugs that a patient has taken and one or more ailments that the patient has experienced. The system operates to determine if there is an adverse event associated with the specified combination and reports any such adverse event to the user. The system retains a copy of any such report for comparison to later searches so as to avoid reporting the same possible adverse event multiple times. The system conducts any such search on a predetermined schedule or can do so at the request of the user.

Abstract: Carbostyril derivatives of Formula I: ##STR1## wherein: m is 0, 1, or 2;n is 0, 1, or 2;R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, aralkoxy, or acyloxy;R.sup.3 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy;R.sup.4 is hydrogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl, acyloxy, provided that when R.sup.4 is hydroxy or acyloxy, m and n are both 1;R.sup.5 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; andR.sup.6 is alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or (dialkylamino)alkyl;and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and N-oxides (at the carbostyril nitrogen) thereof, and compositions containing them, are useful in treating cardiovascular diseases, particularly arrhythmias. Abstract: Apparatus for taking water samples from wells, streams, lakes, or the like wherein the water sample is to be duplicative of the water that is being tested. The apparatus consists of a carrier adapted to be lowered on a line to any depth into the water body to be sampled. The carrier is hollow and has an internal load carrying cavity in which a unit consisting of an isolation vial filled with distilled water and a sample collection vial which is evacuated and positioned within the isolation vial are loaded. Both vials are equipped with closing plugs therein which contain septums and a hollow needle structure is provided which pierces the isolation vial septum and extends into but does not pierce the sample collecting septum.
