  • Publication number: 20160112533
Abstract: A central server outside of a school network receives assignments from educator computing devices, where each assignment includes content for distribution to student computing devices and a schedule indicating when the assignment is active for distribution. A local server within the school network receives the assignments and stores the assignments in a local server datastore. The local server receives from a gateway within the school network a request for active assignments, identifies the active assignments, and returns a list of the active assignments to the gateway. The gateway determines whether the list of the active assignments contains any assignments unretrieved by the given gateway. If so, the gateway sends to the local server a request for the unretrieved assignments. The gateway receives the requested assignments from the local server and stores them in a gateway datastore.

  • Patent number: 9055028
Abstract: A system for flexibly targeting information sent over a broadcast communications medium includes a sender of information signals each carrying information and a targeter for use by a user having a receiver with a targeter. There are a number of the receivers constructed and arranged to receive signals from the sender through a broadcast communications medium. The targeter includes a number of selectors associated with an action ID and a number of key value pairs, constructed and arranged to indicate action to be taken by a user of a selected receiver in the condition that the selector evaluates to true given the values stored in the targeters.

  • Publication number: 20090170472
Abstract: Two or more communications applications are executed on a shared processing platform to process signals received from and transmitted to wireless devices according to a communications protocol, the shared processing platform having shared hardware resources including memory and at least one data processor. A security mechanism is provided to enable each communications application to have independent control of access to data and configuration settings that are private to the communications application. Compatibility of hardware configuration settings associated with different communications applications is determined, and conflicts between hardware configuration settings associated with different communications applications are mediated.

  • Publication number: 20080220763
Abstract: In some aspects, a method includes characterizing a communication link established over a network between a home base station and a base station controller. The home base station is configured to send signals to one or more mobile devices and receive signals from the one or more mobile devices. The method also includes determining a level of service to provide by the home base station to the one or more mobile devices based on the characterization of the communication link.

  • Publication number: 20080220764
Abstract: In some aspects, a method includes determining a location of the home base station. The method also includes determining if the communication carrier has a spectrum license in the determined location. If the communication carrier does not have a spectrum license in the determined location, the method also includes leasing a portion of a frequency spectrum from another carrier that has a spectrum license in the determined location.
