  • Publication number: 20140061232
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for automatically adjusting the amount of ice that may be delivered from an ice storage reservoir to a point of use, such as from an ice reservoir of a combination beverage dispenser and ice reservoir to a container, with a high degree of accuracy, consistency and repeatability. The method and apparatus may be controlled by means of a program and/or logic sequence stored in a memory to allow a wide range of ice volumes to be measured, metered and dispensed. The apparatus may include an ice reservoir, a mechanism for dispensing ice to a point of use disposed in communication with the ice reservoir, and an ice metering device disposed in communication with both the ice reservoir and the mechanism for dispensing ice.

  • Patent number: 8034390
Abstract: An automated food processing system and method are provided that allow food to be dispensed, fried and packaged in a suitable container, which may be an individual portion-sized container. In one embodiment, the system includes separate automated modules for dispensing, frying and packaging the food. In one embodiment, an automated dispensing device dispenses a predetermined portion of food from a bulk storage container or food dispensing magazine to an automated fry device that can include at least one circular fry wheel having a plurality of food containing compartments. After the food is fried it is dispensed from the fry device to an automated packaging device. The automated packaging device dispenses food to a container that may be an individual portion-sized container that is retrieved, erected and held into position for filling by an automated container handling system. A conveyor system transports the filled container to a suitable pick-up location.

  • Patent number: 5584284
Abstract: A self-cleaning gas-fueled oven for cooking with a flameholder and door which permit self-cleaning at temperatures exceeding 900.degree. F. The flameholder has a grille divided into two opposed, substantially flat portions, each of which contains an array of ports of two distinct sizes. The smaller-sized ports are tapered, increasing in cross-sectional area in the direction of gas flow through the grille. The oven door has a lip extending substantially perpendicularly from the door's sidewalls so as to overlap the periphery of the door's inner panel.

  • Patent number: 4790748
Abstract: A grain drying system includes a fluidized bed for burning grain dust. The hot gases produced by the combustion of the grain dust are directed to a cyclone for cleaning and then to a known grain dryer. The ashes or other particles removed from the hot gases by the cyclone are returned to the fluidized bed.

  • Patent number: 4557253
Abstract: An efficient solar collector that uses a collector panel formed of strips similar to conventional aluminum siding includes air distribution channels along opposite edges of the collector panel. These air distribution channels are formed of enlarged collector panel strips and form headers. Openings are formed through the wall on which the siding is mounted adjacent each of these channels so air from the interior of the building may flow through one or more lower openings into one of the channels, then through the space between the exterior side of the wall and the panel into the other channel, and through the other openings to return to the interior of the building. The air is heated indirectly by the solar radiation impinging on the collector panel as the air flows through the space between the wall and the panel. To increase the efficiency of the collector, a blower can be installed in one of the openings to increase the air flow through the collector.

  • Patent number: 4280333
Abstract: Passive environmental heating and cooling systems are described, which utilize heat pipes to transmit heat to or from a thermal reservoir. In a solar heating system, a heat pipe is utilized to carry heat from a solar heat absorber plate that receives sunlight, through a thermal insulation barrier, to a heat storage wall, with the outer end of the pipe which is in contact with the solar absorber being lower than the inner end. The inclining of the heat pipe assures that the portion of working fluid, such as Freon, which is in a liquid phase will fall by gravity to the outer end of the pipe, thereby assuring diode action that prevents the reverse transfer of heat from the reservoir to the outside on cool nights. In a cooling system, the outer end of the pipe which connects to a heat dissipator, is higher than the inner end that is coupled to a cold reservoir, to allow heat transfer only out of the reservoir to the heat dissipator, and not in the reverse direction.
