Abstract: A connector for medical fluid vessels includes a fluid-seal fitting such as a male plug defining a lumen and mating with a cooperating connector, a mechanical fastener such as a screw thread for mating with the cooperating connector, and an outer housing positioned around the plug to form an annular space. A cap can be provided with a fluid-seal fitting such as a male plug for mating with the lumen of the connector. In example embodiments, the male plug is tapered and can comprise one or more projections for sealingly engaging with the lumen of the connector. According to some example embodiments, the cap can be tethered to the connector.

Abstract: A power tool may include a compartment in its housing and a first printed circuit board (PCB) located in the housing and electrically coupled to a first connector. An insertable wireless communication device may include a second electronic processor and an antenna that are each mounted to a second PCB. The insertable wireless communication device may be configured to be received in the compartment and may include a second connector configured to electrically and physically couple to the first connector. The insertable wireless communication device may be configured to wirelessly communicate with an external device. When the insertable wireless communication device is inserted into the compartment, a first conductive layer of the first PCB may be configured to be electrically coupled to the antenna via the first connector and the second connector such that the first conductive layer of the first PCB serves as a ground plane of the antenna.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to provide guidance to a user regarding management of a physiologic condition such as diabetes. The determination may be based upon a patient glucose concentration level. The glucose concentration level may be provided to a stored model to determine a state. The guidance may be determined based at least in part on the determined state.

Abstract: A method including loading solar panel assemblies onto a vehicle, transporting the solar panel assemblies on the vehicle to a pile row of a solar project installation site, and individually unloading the solar panel assemblies along the pile row at the installation site to facilitate installation of the solar panel assemblies on the pile row. Abstract: A communications system may include end-user devices (EUDs), a communications network, and a message processor. A message parser determines, from a received message, a message originator EUD having an associated originator message channel format, and at least one intended message recipient EUD with an associated recipient message channel format. A message channel database includes respective different message channel formats for different EUDs. A message recaster cooperates with the message parser and message channel database and transmits at least one recast message based upon the received message, which may include a corresponding recipient message channel format with a corresponding Internet Protocol (IP) address for the at least one intended recipient EUD.

Abstract: A satellite communication system may include a constellation of cross-linked orbiting satellites and a network manager that maintains a database of push-to-talk (PTT) groups. A plurality of mobile wireless devices may each include a satellite transceiver and a WiFi transceiver. The mobile wireless device may each also include a controller configured to communicate with other members of a respective PTT group via the satellite transceiver when a satellite link is available, determine at least one ad hoc network link with an adjacent mobile wireless device using the WiFi transceiver, and communicate with the other members of the respective PTT group via the at least one ad hoc network link when the satellite link is not available.

Abstract: A satellite communication system may include a constellation of cross-linked orbiting satellites, and an earth station gateway that includes an Internet port. Mobile wireless devices each include a satellite transceiver and a WiFi transceiver configured to communicate with another WiFi transceiver, in turn, configured to communicate with the Internet port. The mobile wireless device may also include a controller configured to communicate with other members of a respective push-to-talk (PTT) group via the satellite transceiver when a satellite link is available, communicate with the other members of the respective push-to-talk (PTT) group via the WiFi transceiver when a WiFi link is available and the satellite link is not available, maintain a first existing PTT call when switching from the satellite link to the WiFi link, and maintain a second existing PTT call when switching from the WiFi link to the satellite link.

Abstract: A communications system may include a first communications device having a first memory storing a crypto-variable (CV) array having N number of crypto-variables (CVs). A first processor cooperates with the first memory and selects M number of CVs from the CV array, the M number having identifiers associated therewith, generates a key using a cryptographic operation and based upon the selected M number of CVs, generates an encrypted message using the key, and transmits the identifiers of the selected M number of CVs and the encrypted message. A second communications device includes a second memory and the CV array stored therein. A second processor cooperates with the second memory and receives the identifiers for the selected M number of CVs and the encrypted message, generates the key using the cryptographic operation based upon the M number of CVs, and decrypts the encrypted message based upon the key.

For example, the presence of distinct metabolite signatures in a sample obtained from a mammal (e.g., a human) having arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis) can be used to determine the disease activity status of the arthritis. Also provided are materials and methods for treating mammals (e.g., a human) having arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis).

Abstract: A bowling lane maintenance machine is provided with separate reservoirs for constituent conditioning components to allow separate storage of the conditioning components and mixing of the conditioning components just prior to application to a surface of the bowling lane. One conditioning component may be a polar component such as a polyethylene glycol and another conditioning component may be a non-polar component such as a mineral oil based product. Separate reservoirs for constituent cleaning components are also provided so that the cleaning components may also be stored separately and then mixed together just prior to application to the bowling lane surface. Primary and secondary drive wheels are positioned on opposite sides of the machine forwardly of a conditioner application roller in the intended forward direction of travel of the machine so that they do not leave “tracks” on the conditioner after its application on the bowling lane.

Abstract: An interventional medical device for use with a motion-sensitive ultrasonic imaging system comprising a flexible elongated member for insertion into soft tissue, a two-axis, flexing mechanism coupled to the flexible elongated member and a mechanism for controlled electrical excitation of the flexible elongated member. Each of the axial flexing mechanisms, when acted upon by electrical excitation, forcibly bends the elongated member along a section of it length causing its tip to move in the plane of the applied bending force. As a direct result of direct energy coupling by bending rather than vibration, the relative phases of the two axes can be controlled to accomplish specific movement of the tip of the flexible elongated member.

Abstract: A moisture-curable polyurethane formulation is provided capable of curing to form a reaction product, having high green strength and being dispensable from a caulking gun. The polyurethane formulation comprises at least one isocyanate-terminated prepolymer, at least one rheology modifier or filler, optionally monomeric/polymeric isocyanate, and at least one urea-based thixotropic additive added to the formulation or formed in situ, to provide greater than 1% of urea groups in the reaction product. A method for making a moisture-curable polyurethane formulation capable of curing to form a reaction product and methods of bonding materials together using the formulation are also provided.

Abstract: A security processor performs all or substantially all security and network processing to provide a secure I/O interface system to protect computing hardware from unauthorized access or attack. The security processor sends and receives all incoming and outgoing data packets for a host device and includes a packet engine, coupled to a local data bus, to process the incoming and outgoing packets. The processor further comprises a cryptographic core coupled to the packet engine to provide encryption and decryption processing for packets processed by the packet engine. The packet engine also handles classification processing for the incoming and outgoing packets. A modulo engine may be coupled to the local data bus.
