  • Patent number: 4154492
Abstract: Known furniture systems of the knock-down type are provided with improved connecting elements; i.e., hinge fixing plates, drawer slides, shelf supports and facing strips, which facilitate assembly and fabrication, increase stability and durability, and refine the appearance of the cabinet. The improved hinge fixing plate includes bearing bosses so arranged and structured as to accept conventionally available hinges in such manner as to permit adjusting of the cabinet door overhang. The improved drawer slide includes a longitudinal open-end rear slot and a transverse or vertical open-bottom forward slot spaced therefrom; the two slots cooperating to form an improved installation means. The shelf support bracket attaches to the side edge of a partial shelf having the rear section cut off to provide clearance for a lighting fixture. The shelf bracket uses countersunk holes to provide clearance between the heads of the attaching screws and the adjusting side walls.

  • Patent number: 4057308
Abstract: Opposite side edges of a base wall are hingedly attached each to a corresponding edge of a pair of side walls and, in the erected state, define three walls of a boxlike enclosure. In its collapsed or shipping position the cabinet side walls are folded oppositely from their erected position on pivot-like hinge means so that they are positioned flat against the rear surface of the base wall. Shipping and storage requirements are significantly less as the flattened units may be stacked one atop another with no wasted space, yet are easily assembled by folding the sides 270.degree. to their erect position.

  • Patent number: 3965499
Abstract: The bed or mattress frame for a convertible sofa is formed of at least two flat spring sections hinged along adjacent longitudinal edges and foldable into a storage position with the spring sections arranged in flat, overlying relationship with each other behind the front board of the sofa. As the sections are unfolded, a linking bar at each end of the frame activates a pivotally attached lever to lift the spring sections to a level above the front board.
