  • Patent number: 6170374
Abstract: A reciprocating cutting assembly for cutting a vertically supported web of material includes elongated cutting means having opposite facing cutting edges, each of which have a plurality of blunt teeth, and a drive means for driving the cutting means between first and second positions on opposite sides of the web. Preferably, the cutting assembly includes first and second support arms, each of which has a plurality of fingers which contact the material web and support the web during the back-and-forth cutting action of the cutting assembly.

  • Patent number: 6070389
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping articles, such as bundles of newspapers, on one or three sides is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a conveyor means, a paper guide and dispensing means for conveying a sheet of paper dispensed from a roll into the path of a bundle moving along the conveyor, a wrapping means for covering the bundle with paper on one or three sides, and a reciprocating, double-edged cutting means for cutting the desired length of paper from the roll. The three-way wrap assembly includes a pair of paper support means, preferably C-shaped flexible belts which contact the paper lightly at three points, allowing the paper to maintain a substantially vertical orientation relative to the path of the bundle during the wrapping operation. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus includes an integrated bundle turner assembly for lifting and turning a bundle 90 degrees relative to its original path of travel.

  • Patent number: 5007793
Abstract: Bulk containers of unitary construction and bulk containers formed of separate parts that interfit with one another to form a unitary structure and an apparatus that lifts the containers from a first support surface and suspends them in queued relation to one another above a second support surface. The first support surface may be a loading dock and the second support surface may be the bed of a truck. A plurality of rearwardly extending hook members are positioned on opposite sides of the truck bed at the rearward end of the truck. The hook members rotate in a vertical plane, and lift the container members, one at a time, from the first support surface by engaging outer roller members that extend laterally from opposite sides of each container. The hook members deliver the containers to horizontally disposed chain members that extend the length of the truck bed on both sides of the truck.
