  • Patent number: 6950759
Abstract: A sensor system for monitoring fluid flow through a tube/pipe has one or more sensors coupled to the tube/piping. An I/O board is coupled to the sensor for receiving measurement signals from the sensor. A computer system is coupled to the I/O board and having an application program to interpret and record the measurement signals.

  • Patent number: 6545661
Abstract: In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a video game system including a game controller, a video display and a hand-held control unit. The game controller is coupled to the control unit and the video display. The control unit houses an accelerometer that senses the tilt of the control unit with respect to an axis. The accelerometer produces an acceleration signal indicating the tilt of the control unit with respect to the axis. The game controller processes the acceleration signal to control the movement of a game character on the video display. In another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a video game system that further includes a light sensor housed in the control unit. The light sensor detects one or more light pixels from the video display and produces a detection signal to the game controller. The game controller determines from the detection signal the light pixels detected from the video display.

  • Patent number: 4501514
Abstract: Structures such as free standing oil production platforms or subsea templates are secured to the sea bed by inserting a tubular pile in the seabed so as to form, with a part of the structure a pair of nested members. Fluid is then introduced into the innermost of the members to plastically deform the innermost member radially so that it engages with the outermost member and forms a mechanical connection between the members. A tool for effecting the plastic deformation comprises a mandrel for insertion into the innermost member and carrying a means to form a chamber within the innermost member and adjacent to its inner surface. The tool also includes a means of introducing fluid into the chamber to expand it radially and thereby deform the innermost member.

  • Patent number: 4238067
Abstract: Water filled cavities are dried by replacing the water with a first liquid which is miscible with water and this is then replaced by a second liquid which is miscible with the first and which has a high vapor pressure. The second liquid is then replaced by a gas. The invention is particularly useful for removing water from between members which are to be explosively welded together underwater so as to improve the quality of the welded joint obtained.
