  • Patent number: 5096505
Abstract: Solar cells, particularly GaAs/GaSb tandem solar cells, are mounted on a honeycomb light weight panel in optical alignment with solar energy concentrators mounted on a front panel side. The cells are mounted on metallized surfaces of the heat spreader that is attached to a panel wall rear panel side. A circuit carrier has conductors which are bonded to metallization islands that are on one side only of the heat spreader. The circuit carrier is adhered to the rear panel side.

  • Patent number: 5068989
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for reducing the criminal usefulness of a dischargeable hand weapon wherein the weapon is temporarily or permanently linked to a relatively heavy, bulky or long object by either a cord, cable, or signal, wherein the weapon may be prevented from discharging immediately after or a certain amount of time after it becomes unlinked from the object and wherein the object must be moved with the weapon when the weapon is taken to a relatively distant location for discharging, thereby effectively reducing the portability and concealability of the weapon for distant locations where it is more likely to be used for a crime.

  • Patent number: 4747070
Abstract: Apparatus and method for reconfiguring a memory in a data processing system to increase the rate of information transfer between system memory and processor. The system memory is comprised of a plurality M of memory banks, each having a separate data output path. In a first configuration a memory controller addresses the memory banks sequentially to read from one address location at a time. The memory is reconfigured by an address translator providing addresses addressing M banks in parallel, so that M locations are read in each read operation, and a bus reconfiguration multiplexer which reconfigures the bank output busses in parallel and selects one or more bank output busses as the memory output to the system processor.

  • Patent number: 4589775
Abstract: Apparatus and method for collecting sidestream smoke produced by a cigarette is disclosed. The apparatus includes a chamber that has upper and lower portions between which smoke may freely move. A cigarette holder is attached to the lower portion so that substantially all of the sidestream smoke produced by the cigarette is released into the chamber means. Smoking means is connected to the cigarette holder means to intermittently draw air through the cigarette and segregate the mainstream smoke from the sidestream smoke. The total relative amount of sidestream smoke may be measured by measuring the opacity of the collected sidestream smoke.
