  • Patent number: 4976924
Abstract: A thermal desorption unit includes a base plate and a pair of spaced apart plates arranged perpendicularly to the base plate and positioned to hold a magazine of tubes between the spaced apart plates. The unit includes apparatus for selectively extracting, handling, heating, and reinserting a tube from the magazine. The tubes are heated to drive off the contents and flushed to clean the inside of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4869117
Abstract: An air sampler includes a magazine having a plurality of sampling tubes, and an inlet and an outlet at a sampling position. A tube advancing mechanism sequentially advances the sampling tubes to and from the sampling position. A tube sealing arrangement is provided at the sampling position. An air pump draws air through the inlet, a sampling tube at the sampling position, and the outlet. A control sequentially operates the magazine, obtaining air samples within the sampling tubes.

  • Patent number: 4548072
Abstract: The invention disclosed is a device for monitoring the penetration of vapor from a challenge liquid occluded by a garment material, through the garment material, wherein pressure is applied against the garment material. The vapor which penetrates through the garment material is picked up by an inert carrier gas and detected to determine the protection afforded by the garment material against penetration by the challenge liquid/vapor.

  • Patent number: 4302485
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the treatment of fabric materials with a liquid finishing agent such as a liquid repellant is disclosed. The method involves passing a strip of the fabric through a bath of the liquid finishing agent across a stationary fabric contacting surface. In the preferred embodiment, the fabric is subjected to ultra-sonic energy while immersed in the bath at a power level and frequency such that cavitation occurs in the bath adjacent the submerged material.
