  • Patent number: 8382400
Abstract: The bag has a trapezoidal shape including a pair of parallel edges opposite each other with one longer than the other and a pair of opposite diverging edges. One edge of the bag is defined by a fold to close off an opening providing access into the bag. Other edges of the bag are formed by a seam joining two opposite layers of flexible material together. The opening is preferably provided on a flap which extends beyond the trapezoidal perimeter of the bag. When this flap is folded over, the final trapezoidal shape for the bag is provided. Walls are built utilizing a plurality of such trapezoidally shaped sandbags in alternating parallel orientations for the long edges and short edges of adjacent bags. Joints between adjacent sandbags are longer than with rectangular sandbags and interlock together somewhat.

  • Patent number: 5283721
Abstract: A refrigerator includes an outer cabinet and an inner liner separated by insulation. The liner includes a plurality of walls defining a compartment to receive items to be refrigerated. An electric light is positioned adjacent to a first of the liner walls. A second of the liner walls disposed perpendicular to the first wall has three spaced apart slots positioned closer to the first wall than the light to the first wall. A shield is positioned between the light and the first wall and includes three tabs received in the slots in the second wall. The middle tab has a pair of lateral ears with rest positions angled with respect to the long axis of the corresponding slot. The ears flex as the tab is inserted through the slot and then return to their rest position to overlie the second liner wall. The other tabs also are angled with respect to their slots to firmly engage the second wall when installed.

  • Patent number: 5000010
Abstract: The combination of a refrigerator cabinet, a hot refrigerant loop conduit passing through an opening in a peripheral wall of the cabinet and a grommet shielding the conduit from the edge of metal around the opening. The grommet, formed by a pair of molded body elements joined by an integral hinge, includes a pair of passages receiving portions of the conduit. Resilient rings extend into the passages and engage the conduit to preclude escape of foam insulation through the passages. An outwardly diverging mandrel extends from the refrigerated compartment end of each passage. A sealing lip projects outwardly from the grommet body and inclines toward the housing wall. Resilient fingers extend from the grommet body and have distal ends which overlap the distal edge of the sealing lip. The distal ends of the fingers and distal edge of the sealing lip engage opposite sides of the peripheral wall so the lip seals against leakage of foam through the opening.

  • Patent number: 4957001
Abstract: An apparatus for the accurate measurement of pressure changes has a reference accumulator and a differential pressure transducer. The reference accumulator stores a pressure representative of the environment being measured. The differential pressure transducer measures the difference between the reference pressure and the pressure of the environment being measured. Connected to the reference accumulator is a valve that allows the reference accumulator to be charged to a pressure representative of the environment being measured and provides protection to the differential pressure transducer from overpressuring. This valve can be controlled remotely by electrical means. With the use of an isolation means, such as an isolation bellows, the whole apparatus can be protected from the environment being measured.

  • Patent number: 4558438
Abstract: In a system for displaying geophysical information on a video screen, data representative of spaced subsurface strata are stored in a computer memory. The data are extracted, plane by plane, and data bytes representative of the planes are stored in pairs in memories in an image processor. The data representative of one plane is displayed and recorded on a medium such as video tape. An image is then formed using a large fraction of the value of the data representative of one plane and a smaller fraction of the data representative of the next plane, and that image is stored. Successive images are formed using decreasing fractional amounts of the data representative of the first plane and increasing fractional amounts of the data in the next plane. Each image is stored and displayed, the display presenting a sequence of images which appear to merge or dissolve smoothly from one to the next. The process is repeated through all stored strata.
