  • Patent number: 5244442
Abstract: A portable exercise device for the wrists, hands and arms having an elongate shaft of generally circular cross section, a pair of handles connected to the shaft, at least one of the handles having a substantially axial bore in which the shaft is inserted. Clamping means is provided for clamping said at least one of the handles to the shaft to permit relative circumferential movement about said shaft of said at least one of the handles, the movement being opposed by frictional force between the shaft and the bore of said at least one of the handles.

  • Patent number: 5009350
Abstract: A retainer assembly can be clamped to a support crossbasr, such as is provided by a vehicle roof rack, and is able to retain an elongated member, such as an extension ladder, on the roof rack without the use of tools, clamps, tie-downs, etc. Each retainer assembly has a vertically-extending body, a transversely-extending part and a downwardly-extending retainer portion forming a retainer hook, the transversely-extending part being enclosed in a resilient sleeve. The ladder edge is inserted under the retainer hook while in an elevated attitude and then rotated downwards so that the edge rises up in the hook and compresses the sleeve, whereupon the ladder is held securely by the compressed sleeve between the retainer hooks and the cross-bars. The procedure is reversed to remove the object. The transversely extending part is adjustable vertically along the body, and the retainer portion is adjustable horizontally to accommodate ladders, etc. of different cross-sectional sizes.

  • Patent number: 4375245
Abstract: A new sawhorse bracket for use with a rectangular cross-section cross-bar, usually of wood, is formed preferably by stamping and subsequent bending from a continuous strip of metal, the bracket comprising a central portion of truncated isosceles triangle shape so as to have two inclined edges, leg supporting portions extending at right angles to the central portion, return portions extending at right angles to the leg-supporting portions, and end portions which engage the sides of the cross-bar. The bracket is fastened to the cross-bar by screws passing through the central portion and a single relatively heavy bolt passing through the end members and the cross-bar. The legs are pivoted to the inclined leg-supporting portions and therefore move from a splayed support position to a stored position alongside the cross-bar to be stable when erected but occupying minimum space when stored.

  • Patent number: 4124262
Abstract: Hardware for a reversible kitchen cabinet shelf includes upper and lower molded or stamped plates which are attached respectively to the upper and lower panels of a cabinet. The plates include an arcuate track and a transverse guide slot which is generally perpendicular to the front edge of the cabinet. Followers attached to the top and bottom of a shelf unit for the cabinet cooperate with the arcuate track and slot whereby the shelf construction may be pivoted and reversed with respect to the cabinet enclosure.
