  • Patent number: 6299489
Abstract: A sleeve terminal which provides a continually assured level of normal force with respect to a received pin terminal, even as the sleeve member thereof may tend to relax over time. The sleeve terminal includes a sleeve member having a slot which allows the sleeve member to be resiliently expanded when a pin terminal is inserted therewithin. A pair of resilient arms characterized by an opposing V-shape are formed integrally with the sleeve member on opposing sides of the slot. The apex of the resilient arms provides a contact location with the inner surface of a barrel which is concentrically receives the sleeve terminal. A free end of each resilient arm is spaced a predetrmined distance from the sleeve member. A wire mount is connected to the sleeve member opposite the slot. In operation, a pin terminal is inserted into the sleeve member, causing the sleeve member to be resiliently expanded as the slot widens.

  • Patent number: 6276960
Abstract: A power connector system includes a female connector and a male connector. The female connector includes a female terminal in a female housing. The female terminal is in the form of a U-shaped channel defining a recess. A U-shaped contact member in the channel recess forms a second recess. The male connector includes a male terminal in a male housing. The male and female housings are releasably connected together with the male terminal extending into the recess in the contact member.

  • Patent number: 5571030
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly has a pair of mating connector housings carrying mating metal terminals, a double ended shorting clip carried by one of the housings and having both ends thereof in spring biased engagement with its associated metal terminals in that housing, a third housing encircling the housings and a tethered connector position assurance member connected to the third housing. The shorting clip first has one end automatically disengaged from its associated metal terminals by a first cam when the connector housings are mated together and then its other end automatically disengaged from its associated terminals by a second cam on the connector position assurance member when it is connected to the third housing so that a shorting path across the associated metal terminals is only fully disconnected if proper mating of the connector housings is assured.

  • Patent number: 5079671
Abstract: An electrical header connector is attached to a printed circuit board by a sheet metal bracket or brackets comprising a body portion that has retaining means at each lateral end in the form of runners that are inserted into narrow longitudinal slots of the electrical header connector and have lock tangs that dig into surfaces of the slots to securely fasten the sheet metal bracket to the electrical header connector. The body portion further including at least one spring clip disposed between the runners that is pushed into a hole of the printed circuit board to attach the electrical header connector to the printed circuit board. The sheet metal bracket may also include means for establishing an electrical ground connection between a ground wire and the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5030127
Abstract: Male and female electrical connectors are locked together by a resilient cantilevered lock arm of the male insulator body engaging a latching member of the female insulator body. The lock arm has a T-shaped member at its free end which provides a thumb pad for depressing the lock arm and disconnecting the electrical connectors.
