Patent number: 7628563Abstract: A unitary fitting for mating with and coupling a plurality of T-slot structures. The fitting comprises at least two sections to mate with the T-slot structures, with each of the sections having a first end, a second end, an outer surface circumferentially surrounding said T-slot structure, and an inner surface being capable of mating with one of said T-slot structures. the inner surfaces has at least one rail that extends inwardly into a recess of the T-slot structures. The fitting is formed of one piece construction.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2007Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Inventor: John M. Winkler

Publication number: 20030156923Abstract: An indexing plunger is provided whereby a first downward force exerted on a hand grip or a lever will move a pin assembly downwardly and whereby a second rotating force exerted on the hand grip or the lever either clockwise or counterclockwise will lock the device into place by extending the locating pin and thereby locking it into place using the compression force exerted by an internal spring. This embodiment can assume a number of different physical configurations. In another preferred embodiment, the object is to provide an indexing plunger that moves the locating pin incrementally downwardly through the housing when the handgrip is rotated in the clockwise direction. At all times during the pin's downward movement, a compression spring maintains an opposing force on the handgrip.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2002Publication date: August 21, 2003Inventors: John M. Winkler, Tony J. Cavadias

Patent number: 5513544Abstract: A retractable, locking mechanism for use with a crank handle wherein the mechanism allows the handle to be rotated from an extended position to a retracted position is comprised of a male swivel and a female swivel, a pin for joining the male and female swivels and a spring for urging the male swivel to seat with the female swivel. The pin is fixed between flanges extending from the female swivel. The male swivel extends between the flanges and rotates about the pin which extends through a cavity defined within the male swivel. When the male swivel is in an "extended" position, the male swivel is engaged with the female swivel such that their axes are aligned and an axially extending shaft on the male swivel seats in an axially extending bore in the female swivel. The spring rides in the cavity of the male swivel and is biased against the pin such that the spring urges the shaft of the male swivel into the bore of the female swivel.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1994Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: J. W. Winco, Inc.Inventors: John Winkler, John M. Winkler

Patent number: 4452331Abstract: A vehicle axle for use in a vehicle having both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive operating modes. The vehicle axle includes a pair of flanged axle shafts interconnected through an axle differential. One of the shafts has inner and outer sections which can be selectively coupled and uncoupled through a shiftable clutch collar to obtain four-wheel drive mode of operation or two-wheel drive mode of operation, respectively. The shifting of the clutch collar is effected by a vacuum motor which is responsive to a control signal to cause the collar to shift between positions for mode selection. The vacuum motor has a flexural diaphragm whose displacements are transmitted through linkage to the clutch collar to effect its shifting. In the two-wheel drive operating mode, the outer section of the axle shaft is not coupled to the inner section and rotates freely under the influence of its associated wheel.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1980Date of Patent: June 5, 1984Assignee: American Motors CorporationInventors: Royston C. Lunn, J. Edwin MacAfee, Robert C. Grabowski, Dennis N. Renneker, John M. Winkler

Patent number: 4373604Abstract: A transfer case adapted for use in a four-wheel drive vehicle having two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive operating modes. The transfer case includes an inter-axle differential which permits general vehicle operation in the four-wheel drive mode. The transfer case also includes a chain and sprocket assembly which provides selective power transfer to one of the vehicle axles, normally the front axle. In the first operating state of the transfer case the chain and sprocket assembly is engaged with the inter-axle differential to transmit the drive torque to the front axle. In a second operating state, the chain and sprocket assembly is disengaged and no drive torque is transmitted to the front axle. The transition between operating states is effected by shifting of a clutch collar within the transfer case to control the engagement of the chain and sprocket assembly. This shifting is accomplished by controlled actuation of a vacuum motor.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1980Date of Patent: February 15, 1983Assignee: American Motors CorporationInventors: Royston C.
