  • Patent number: 10124936
Abstract: A closure (20, 2GA, 2GB) is provided for a system with an opening. The closure (20, 20A, 20B) has a body (24, 24A, 24B) with an outer end (32, 32B) and a through passage (30, 3GB) for communicating with the system opening. The body (24, 24A, 24B) has a membrane (60, 60B) mitially occluding the through passage (30, 30B). The closure (20, 20A, 20B) has a lid (26, 26A. 26B) to accommodate movement relative to the body (24. 24A, 24B) between a closed position restricting access to the through passage (30, 30B) and an open position permitting greater access to the through passage (30, 30B). The body (24, 24A, 24B) thither has a separation member (70, 7GB) that can be engaged by a user to separate at least a part of the membrane (60, 60B) from the body (24, 24 A. 24B).

  • Publication number: 20160257451
Abstract: A combination of a closing element (28) and a receiving structure (24) is provided wherein the closing element (28) and receiving structure (24) are in an initially assembled orientation which prevents, but which can he subsequently operated to permit, communication through the receiving structure (24). The receiving structure (24) includes at least one laterally projecting shear member (40) and a spout (30) defining (A) an access passage (32). The closing element (28) has an aperture (78) for receiving a shear member (40) of the receiving structure (24). At least one frangible bridge (78) extends across a portion of the aperture (74) for being severed by the shear member (40) during relative rotation between the closing element (28) and the receiving structure (24).

  • Patent number: 8302805
Abstract: A closure has a body and a lid is molded with the body. A utensil, such as a scoop or spear, is integrally formed with the closure body, and connected to the closure body via frangible connections. The lid includes a utensil-receiving structure for releasably holding the utensil, once it is initially broken away from the closure body, such that the utensil can be attached to the closure lid for storage.

  • Publication number: 20100193522
Abstract: A closure is provided with a peripheral wall and a lid movable relative to the peripheral wall. Either the peripheral wall or the lid includes a deflectable latch pad having a latch aperture. The other of the peripheral wall and lid has a latch post for being pushed into the latch aperture only during the first closing of the lid while the deflectable latch pad is restrained against inward movement where by an initial releasable connection is created between the latch post and the deflectable latch pad to establish at least part of an initial opening resistance of the lid. After the lid is opened following the first closing of the lid, any subsequent closing of the lid fails to create a connection between the latch post and elastically deformable portion of the deflectable latch pad owing to unrestrained inward deflection of the deflectable latch pad by the latch post as the lid is moved to the closed position.
