  • Patent number: 7838485
Abstract: An aqueous, alkaline cleaning composition for use on hard-to-clean soils, encountered in pharmaceutical, personal care, food and cosmetic manufacturing, comprising a source of alkalinity, a biodegradable surfactant system further comprising one or more surfactants, one or more hydrotropes, and a UV-analyzable surfactant, and a biodegradable chelating agent. The composition offers unique advantages of stability over the expected shelf life, low-foaming property, phosphate-free and biodegradable components, and unexpectedly enhanced antimicrobial, including virucidal, activity in one cleaning composition. The UV-analyzable surfactant allows for validation of cleaning processes using known techniques for manufacturers who are required or desire to do so.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 2007
Date of Patent: November 23, 2010
    Assignee: American Sterilizer Company
Inventors: Christopher C. Heisig, Shahin Keller, John Macauley, Gurusamy Manivannan, Daniel Klein, Michael Ebers

  • Publication number: 20060000338
Abstract: A process for skiving a substrate is described, wherein the substrate is skived with a roller or a device or apparatus including the roller. The roller provides a cleaner skive than previously known methods without damage to underlying materials.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 21, 2004
    Publication date: January 5, 2006
Inventors: Charles Rankin, Theodore Ricks, Megan Weiner, John Macauley, Rusty Coleman
  • Publication number: 20050260020
Abstract: A skiving device including at least one nozzle tip and at least one roller is described, as well as methods of using the skiving device. Skives made with the skiving device are clean, neat, and do not damage underlying layers.

  • Publication number: 20050257811
Abstract: A nozzle tip having two faces and methods of using the nozzle tip are described. The nozzle tip has a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The proximal end has an opening defined by a first face including a first edge, and a second face including a second edge, wherein the first face is at an angle of from about 20 degrees to about 120 degrees relative to the axis, and the second face is at an angle of from about 15 degrees to about 70 degrees relative to the axis. The nozzle tip can be incorporated into a device or assembly for skiving.

  • Publication number: 20050259215
Abstract: A display formed by skiving with a skiving device including at least one nozzle tip and at least one roller is described. The display has skives that are clean and neat, and has no damage to layers underlying the skived areas.

  • Publication number: 20050259213
Abstract: A display including a light modulating layer and a substrate is manufactured using a roller, or a device or apparatus including the roller. The roller skives unwanted material during manufacture of the display, providing a clean skive without damage to underlying materials.
