  • Patent number: 11181062
Abstract: An engine control system includes: a target air mass module configured to determine a target mass of air within a cylinder of an engine based on a torque request; a boost control module configured to control boost provided by a turbocharger based on the torque request; an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control module configured to selectively: set a target opening of an EGR valve based on the target mass of air; set the target opening of the EGR valve to a predetermined minimum opening, where the predetermined minimum opening is greater than zero percent open; and control opening of the EGR valve based on the target opening of the EGR valve.

  • Patent number: 11060525
Abstract: A control system for a turbocharger of a vehicle includes an enable module, an error module, a reduction module, and a boost module. The enable module is configured to: enable reduction in a boost pressure setpoint of a compressor of the turbocharger based on whether a fault exists, load on an engine, and a compressor outlet temperature; and generate an enable signal indicating whether reduction in the boost pressure setpoint is enabled. The error module configured to determine a difference between the compressor outlet temperature and a predetermined limit. The reduction control module is configured to, in response to the enable signal indicating reduction in the boost pressure setpoint is enabled, reduce the boost pressure setpoint based on the difference. The boost module is configured to adjust boost pressure output of the compressor based on the boost pressure setpoint.

  • Publication number: 20170268771
Abstract: Process and apparatuses for providing a stable flame in a burner assembly are provided. In an embodiment, the apparatus includes a burner assembly comprising a burner tile having a top surface, an outside surface, a pre-mix region and defining an interior space for introduction of combustion air. A plurality of primary fuel tips are disposed in the interior space for injection of a primary fuel followed by mixing of a portion of the primary fuel and a portion of the combustion air mix in the pre-mix region to provide a primary fuel-air mixture. A plurality of secondary fuel tips are located on the top surface or mounted near the outside surface of the burner tile. A plurality of low velocity ports are located on the top surface of the burner tile for injecting the primary fuel-air mixture from the pre-mix region.

  • Publication number: 20080218055
Abstract: A cathode ray tube has an envelope (2) including a panel (3) and a neck (4) connected by a funnel (5). The funnel comprises a main body portion (16) having a seal edge (17) and a neck. The main body portion has at least one region with a higher tensile stress than other regions of the main body portion. An exterior surface of the main body portion has first and second protective coatings (20, 21). The first protective coating (20) covers at least a portion of the at least one region. The first protective coating is of a composition and thickness such that the first protective coating substantially reduces the susceptibility of the at least one region from incurring mechanical damage. The second protective coating (21) covers at least a portion of the first protective coating and is of a composition and thickness such that the second protective coating protects the funnel from moisture contact.
