  • Patent number: 10807102
Abstract: An HVAC system having an air cleaner, a fan that selectively generates an air flow at least partially through the air cleaner, and a controller that establishes a functional relationship between an air flow related criterion and a correlated power level setting of the air cleaner, determines an air flow related criterion value, determines a correlated power level setting value using the determined air flow related criterion value and the functional relationship, and controls the air cleaner as a function of the determined correlated power level setting value is disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 7, 2016
Date of Patent: October 20, 2020
    Assignee: TRANE INTERNATIONAL INC.
    Inventor: John Mark Hagan
  • Patent number: 9818288
Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system may include a visitor presence sensor and a visitor presence indicator. The visitor presence sensor may detect the presence of a visitor at a residence and communicate the presence of the visitor to the visitor presence indicator, which may audibly and/or visually alert a homeowner of the presence of the visitor at the residence.

Abstract: An HVAC system having an air cleaner, a fan configured to selectively generate an air flow, wherein at least a portion of the air flow is passed through the air cleaner, and a controller configured to control the air cleaner in response to at least one of a setting for controlling the fan and an operation characteristic of the fan is disclosed. A method of controlling an air cleaner by determining an air flow related criterion value, wherein the air flow is associated with an air flow through an air cleaner, comparing the determined air flow related criterion value to a threshold criterion value, and controlling the air cleaner as a function of a result of comparing the determined air flow related criterion value to the threshold criterion value is disclosed. A method of controlling an ozone concentration outputted by an air cleaner is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7909918
Abstract: An intense field dielectric air filtration system includes a perimeter frame for wall or ceiling mounting at the inlet of a return air duct for an air conditioning apparatus. A door including a grille disposed thereon is mounted for movement on the frame between working and non-working positions for access to an air filter unit, a pre-filter unit and an intense field particle charging unit. Contacts on the filter unit and the field charging unit engage cooperating contacts on an enclosure mounted on the frame when the door is closed to supply electrical power. An interlock is provided to interrupt power when the door is moved to an open position or the grille is removed. A control system disposed in the enclosure includes user control features accessible when the door is in an open position. An alternate embodiment includes a support frame for positioning the filtration system in ductwork or the like other than a return air inlet.
