  • Patent number: 6336552
Abstract: A stackable insert for use in organizing the family members in a family of top opening military type ammunition boxes wherein each family member has the same base dimensions but a different height than other members in the family of boxes. The insert includes a rectangular shaped open top container and a flat lid that is hinged to one side wall of the container and secured at closure by a positive snap over latching mechanism. A pair of finger holes, or other lifting means, are provided in the lid which provides for easy lifting of the insert. A panel type separator divides the container into compartments. The insert is dimensioned so that a plurality of inserts can be stacked in each member sized ammunition box to maximize the usable space within each size box.

  • Patent number: 4118172
Abstract: The ratio of fuel to oxidant in a gas mixture to main burners in a furnace, wherein the fuel is of variable composition, is controlled to a predetermined level by burning a portion of the fuel in a control burner, adjusting the oxidant to obtain a ratio of fuel to oxidant near the stoichiometric ratio in the control burner and supplying the main burners with independent preset multiples of the fuel and oxidant flow in the control burner such that the predetermined ratio of fuel to oxidant is achieved. The stoichiometric ratio is determined by automatic searching for the peak value of a burning or burned fuel property which has a maximum value as a function of the fuel/oxidant ratio at or near the stoichiometric ratio. For example, the temperature of the burned fuel is a property which may be used to find the stoichiometric ratio.

  • Patent number: 4022163
Abstract: A modular boiler having a cylindrical combustion chamber made of three modules and a module comprising a cover and a module comprising an expansion vessel mounted coaxially on the boiler adjacent the combustion chamber at opposite ends thereof. The cover has a frustro-conical configuration with the inner walls thereof diverging from an opening in the cover toward the interior of the combustion chamber at an angle of between 30.degree. and 110.degree.. The combustion chamber is formed of three castings that define the cylindrical combustion chamber and six axial hot gas flow paths spaced circumferentially from each other and disposed axially of and radially of the combustion chamber. Hot gases from the downstream end of the combustion chamber are recirculated to the upstream end of the combustion chamber to improve the combustion.
