  • Patent number: 11914974
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a system comprises a generator of a truly random signal is connected to an input and feedback device for the purpose of providing a user with real time feedback on the random signal. The user observes a representation of the signal in the process of an external physical event for the purpose of finding a correlation between the random output and what happens during the physical event. In some examples, the system is preferably designed such the system is shielded from all classically known forces such as gravity, physical pressure, motion, electromagnetic fields, humidity, etc. and/or, such classical forces are factored out of the process as much as possible. The system is thus designed to be selectively response to signals from living creatures, in particular, humans.

  • Publication number: 20190329986
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a conveyor carrier cart. The conveyor carrier cart includes a main body, a pair of pivoting arms, and a folding mechanism. The main body defines a load carrying surface to support one or more objects disposed thereon. The pair of pivoting arms include a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end pivotally connects each pivoting arm with the main body through the folding mechanism and the distal end connects with a guide member of a conveyor assembly. Each pivoting arm is configured to pivot between a deployed position and a retracted position. In the deployed position, the distal end of each pivoting arm engages the guide member of the conveyor assembly. In the retracted position, the distal end of each pivoting arm pivots about the folding mechanism to disengage from the guide member of the conveyor assembly.

  • Patent number: 8181858
Abstract: A method for conducting a financial transaction can be used by a person using a mobile device to conduct the transaction. The mobile device receives information related to the person that can be used for authentication purposes, such as a PIN or biometric data. The mobile device then authenticates the person by verifying the information received. If the person is authenticated, the transaction is completed using the mobile device, and if the person is not authenticated, the transaction is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20090157454
Abstract: A method for conducting a financial transaction involves a person using a mobile device. The mobile device accesses information regarding the proposed financial transaction and determines, based on that information, whether the proposed transaction is permissible according to pre-set preferences associated with the person. Some of these preferences may be controllable by the person, and other preferences may be only partially controllable or not controllable by the person. The proposed transaction is denied if it is determined not to be permissible, and the proposed transaction is allowed if it is determined to be permissible. If the transaction is denied, the person may be presented with the option of changing the preferences, and authentication may be necessary to do so.

  • Publication number: 20090157560
Abstract: Information related to a person can be processed and monetized according to several methods. The person is provided control over monetization of information that is related to him or her. This information may be received and stored by a storage entity, such as an information bank. Upon confirmation of a purchase agreement between the person and a purchaser, the information is made available to the purchaser, and the person receives value in exchange for the information. The information may be collected and stored for later bulk or incremental monetization at the control of the person.

  • Publication number: 20070255156
Abstract: Apparatus and method according to the disclosure relate to minimizing gaps between a substantially planar cardiac-sensing electrode and a shroud member utilizing a so-called interference-fit. For example, a relatively recessed area or aperture formed in an exemplary resin-based shroud member has slightly reduced dimensions relative to the electrode and requires compression forces during assembly (e.g., manually or in an automated process including a press, a tool or other means). The interference-fit promotes a very tight fit (or seal) between the metallic electrode and the resin-based shroud member and, importantly, minimizes gaps. Additionally, discrete interference structures promote fluid tight seals between the electrode and a recess or aperture adapted to receive the electrode.

  • Publication number: 20070255157
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure described and depicted herein utilize substantially planar electrodes having one or more time-release coatings or material on at least a portion of the exposed surfaces thereof, or all surfaces of the planar portions and the elongated conductor portion thereof. The coatings or materials can include one or more synthetic and/or naturally-occurring biologically-, genetically- and/or pharmacologically-active materials that tend to reduce risk of infection, encourage tissue ingrowth, and/or induce other physiologic benefit and the like. In the event that an increase in surface area of the electrodes is desired and/or a means of retaining more of the time-release coating(s), an additional layer of material can be applied over a part of the electrode surface (e.g., titanium nitride, platinum black, or the like).

  • Publication number: 20070255158
Abstract: Apparatus and method according to the disclosure relate to promoting flow of body fluids in and around and between a substantially planar cardiac-sensing electrode and a shroud member utilizing spacing therebetween and/or one or more apertures, notches, slots and the like. For example, a relatively recessed area or aperture formed in an exemplary resin-based shroud member includes apertures that cooperate to promote flow of body fluids therearound.

  • Patent number: 5908149
Abstract: An improved surgical stapler which allows for the multi-directional release of staples includes a stapler body and a driver contained therein. A magazine is connected to the stapler body and includes a staple track for carrying a plurality of staples wherein each of the staples has staple legs. An anvil is associated with the staple track for providing a staple forming surface for forming a staple thereon. A feeder element which is spring biased against the staples is used for feeding each staple from the staple track to the anvil. A trigger is operatively connected to the driver and is movable from a pre-fire position to a firing position for advancing the driver against the anvil for forming the staple against the anvil. A kick-off spring is positioned beneath and substantially parallel to the staple track and the anvil.
