Abstract: An apparatus comprises a volume-control user interface, a transmitter, an audio amplifier (having a corresponding amplification range), and a control circuit operably coupled to the foregoing components. This control circuit is configured to respond to a volume change made via the volume-control user interface that is within the amplification range of the audio amplifier by making a corresponding change to a volume level for an audio signal being transmitted by the transmitter. The control circuit is also configured to respond to a volume change made via the volume-control user interface that exceeds the amplification range of the audio amplifier by transmitting a volume-increase command.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for computing a secret shared with a portable electronic device and service entity. The service entity has a public key G and a private key g. A message comprising the public key G is broadcast to the portable electronic device. A public key B of the portable electronic device is obtained from a manufacturing server and used together with the private key g to compute the shared secret. The portable electronic device receives the broadcast message and computes the shared secret as a function of the public key G and the portable electronic device's private key b. The shared secret can be used to establish a trusted relationship between the portable electronic device and the service entity, to activate a service on the portable electronic device, and to generate certificates.

Presentation from a variety of image sizes and formats, such as standard and panoramic format is possible. The method includes accessing at least two information sources each with separate image content. Next, each of the separate image content is interspersed in an arrangement so that content overlaps in with each other and at least some of the image content is automatically resized to concurrently present image content in a plurality of different image sizes and in a film strip arrangement. The image content is presented from each of the information sources along with the source indicator in a film strip arrangement.

Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated method, forms a media play-out list of media, selected from a media database. A temporal indication is provided, and an estimated event is estimated based upon the temporal information. Indication of the estimated event is correlated with metadata of media stored at the media database. Media corresponding to metadata that correlates well with the estimated event is amenable for inclusion in the media play-out list.
