  • Publication number: 20120283738
Abstract: A sizing caliper for facilitating the selection of a femoral component of a knee prosthesis includes a caliper body, a drill guide body, a stylus tower and a graduated stylus slidably coupled to the stylus tower. The caliper body, the stylus tower and the two drill guide body portions are configured to be slidably linked to each other, whereby as the caliper body and the stylus tower are linearly displaced, in opposite directions along the longitudinal axis L of the sizing caliper, relative to the two drill guide body portions, the caliper body and the stylus tower are linearly displaced at an equal rate relative to the drill guide body portions and the drill guide holes remain located at the midpoint of an anterior/posterior dimension defined by the distance between the tip of the stylus and the base portion.

  • Patent number: 8216244
Abstract: A sizing caliper for determining the optimum size of a femoral component of a knee prosthesis includes a caliper body, a drill guide body, a stylus tower and a graduated stylus slidably coupled to the stylus tower. The caliper body, the drill guide body and the stylus tower are slidably linked to each other by a linkage pin laterally extending there through in a manner thereby when the caliper body and the stylus tower are linearly displaced in opposite directions in reference to the drill guide body, the caliper body and the stylus tower are linearly displaced at an equal rate with respect to the drill guide body.

  • Publication number: 20110301613
Abstract: A modular impactor head includes a load transfer member, a base, and a locking assembly. The base defines a space sized and configured to receive the load transfer member therein and to constrain movement of the load transfer member relative to the base in a plurality of directions. The locking assembly is sized and configured to constrain movement of the load transfer member with respect to the base in at least one direction such that the load transfer member is fixed to the base.

  • Publication number: 20110082559
Abstract: An orthopedic prosthesis includes a tibial implant and a tibial insert. The tibial implant includes an upper surface, a medial side, a lateral side and a first locking structure provided on the upper surface where the medial side and the lateral side of the tibial implant are defined by a medial-lateral midline. The tibial insert includes a second locking structure provided on its bottom surface. The first and second locking structures are configured for engaging each other along an engagement direction vector when the tibial insert is inserted into the tibial base towards the posterior side. The engagement direction vector is angled away from the medial-lateral midline of the tibial implant towards the medial side of the tibial implant by a predetermine angle.

  • Publication number: 20110046629
Abstract: A chamfer resection guide assembly for a distal total knee implant has an anchor member for anchoring into a resected distal surface of a femur, a block member including one or more cutting guide slots for guiding a cutting tool for making chamfer resections and a camming member. The camming member operably connects the block member and the anchor member and the position of the block member with respect to the anchor member is adjusted by operation of the camming member thus allowing adjustment of the position of the cutting guide slots with respect to the anchoring member.

  • Patent number: 7742802
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for determining a global position of an anatomical structure. The system utilizes a surgical navigation system and a substrate that is capable of being removably mounted to an outer surface of a user's body. The substrate includes a positional device and a sensor that is tracked by the surgical navigation system. A finger mounted structure capable of communicating with the positional device is also provided. The concatenation of a position of the sensor and a position of the finger mounted structure allows a global position of a point on the anatomical structure to be determined by a computer system.
