Publication number: 20120100530Abstract: The invention relates to constructs comprising a nucleic acid binding protein and a surface. At least one native accessible cysteine residue is removed from the binding protein. The binding protein is attached to the surface via one or more accessible cysteine residues. The removal of other accessible cysteine residues from the protein allows control attachment to the surface. The constructs can be used to generate transmembrane pores having a nucleic acid binding protein attached thereto. Such pores are particularly useful for sequencing nucleic acids. The enzyme handles the nucleic acid in such a way that the pore can detect each of its component nucleotides by stochastic sensing.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2010Publication date: April 26, 2012Applicant: OXFORD NANOPORE TECHNOLOGIES LIMITEDInventors: Ruth Moysey, Michael Knaggs, Lakmal Jayasinghe, James White, Brian Mckeown, John Milton

Publication number: 20110234670Abstract: A method of printing executes a software instruction using a print system controller to measure a vertical position of each row of an array of jets, having at least one offset subset of the array offset in a movement direction, adjusts timing of firing intervals for the offset subset such that the offset subset fire after a longer interval than other jets, and fires jets other than the offset subset at a predetermined firing interval. A print head has an array of transducers, an ink chamber to store ink arranged adjacent the array of transducers, and an array of jets arranged adjacent the ink chamber such that when selected ones of the array of transducers are activated, ink from the chamber exits a jet corresponding to the selected ones of the transducers, the array of jets having at least one subset of the array offset in a vertical direction relative to the other jets.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2010Publication date: September 29, 2011Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: JOHN MILTON BROOKFIELD, JACLYN NHA DANH, KENNETH RALPH CHAMBERLAIN, RUSSELL WATT

Publication number: 20110114584Abstract: A lightweight, portable saddle holder that takes up a minimal amount of space when not in use. The saddle holder includes a horizontally-oriented, U-shaped saddle horn retainer that defines a saddle horn pass-through. A fulcrum bracket extends down and forward from the bottom of the saddle horn retainer, below the saddle horn pass through. The saddle holder can be mounted to a support structure by hooking a pair of mounting arms that project from a rear of the saddle holder over a top edge of the support structure. The horn of a saddle is inserted upwardly, through the saddle horn pass-through, and the swell of the saddle is brought to rest on the fulcrum bracket. The saddle thereby acts as a lever atop the fulcrum bracket, with the horn of the saddle held by the saddle horn retainer, thus preventing the saddle from tipping forward off of the fulcrum bracket.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2010Publication date: May 19, 2011Inventors: Bradley Heath Shirey, John Milton Elliott

Patent number: 7869722Abstract: A toner dam maintenance process and system model the amount of toner mass at a toner cleaner blade, and apply a corrective procedure, such as insertion of a paperless copy into the print job mid-job or immediately prior to cycle out, to replenish the toner mass at the cleaner blade to maintain lubrication and reduce cleaning failure. The modeling includes contributing factors toward toner dam input and output, including untransferred toner, cycle-in/cycle-out bands, untransferred background, and leakage of toner from the cleaner blade. One or several threshold can be reached to cause one or more different corrective actions to take place. The action may be adding or skipping a pitch to insert a corrective maintenance pattern without transfer.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Derek John Milton, Stuart John Handley, Tim Spink, Julian Derek Morrison, Pieter Mulder
