  • Patent number: 9022964
Abstract: An orthopedic cast removal tool and method uses an unmodified, typically cordless, rotary impact driver and a embedded wire to cut through an orthopedic cast for removal. By merging it with a slotted spacer block specifically for this cast removal purpose, an ergonomic tool is provided which allays fears of orthopedic patients. When rotating and encountering high resistance of the plaster or fiberglass material of the cast, the cordless rotary impact driver does not bog down; since it seamlessly engages impact action, which offers an order of magnitude or more torque multiplication via short frequent pulses (several per second) to overcome this torque resistance. Thus a high amount of torque with very little reaction force is made available to cut through a cast while affording the technician good control. The cast is cut very rapidly with little dust creation and no jostling of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20090040878
Abstract: A tangible invitation card extends an invitation by displaying information with regard to the invitation. A settable real-time clock sets a predetermined time which is displayed on a screen on the invitation card of time remaining to a selected target date for an event or earlier RSVP date related thereto. The card is programmed such that as the target date is approached, one or more visual displays and/or sounds count down and announce the time left to the target date for the RSVP or event. The invitation card is programmed with the necessary information to enable it to perform its reminder mission.

  • Patent number: 7487614
Abstract: By attaching a radio or acoustic sound transmitters, or combinations thereof, to the float line of nets recovery of gill nets will become much easier, and timely. This could save millions of fish and other marine life, as well as the economic value of lost nets, which can cost thousands of dollars a piece.

  • Patent number: 7142933
Abstract: A system and method for determining a performance-indicating statistic for a goal based sports game, the sports game involving time, the method comprising: storing at least one sports game box score, the at least one box score representing a performance in the sports game; determining intermediate data related to the sports game from the at least one stored box score, the intermediate data comprising at least accrued time and any goal scored; calculating the performance-indicating statistic, which indicates a measure of performance of the sports game, from the intermediate data; presenting the calculated performance-indicating statistic. The at least one box score and/or the calculated performance indicating statistic can be electronically displayed on a video display or an electronic scoreboard during or after a game and/or may be communicated for display on a global communications network or a television show.

  • Publication number: 20030044746
Abstract: A removable orthodontic implant brackets for straightening teeth, wherein the implant is implanted into the palate roof of the mouth, includes a patient removable palate anchor connector as well as patient removable tooth connectors which attach the ends of palatal wires to tabs which are adhesively bonded to a tooth. Due to the geometries of the connectors, the connectors have low insertion and removal forces, positive locking of connected sections, and resist rotation in all planes. During removal, a captive actuator stud is simply pulled up or pressed down to deploy or retract the dual locking studs which operate in a plane orthogonal to the direction of movement.

  • Patent number: 5527033
Abstract: In a converting device for converting a box score in hockey game eventually to final statistics relating to composite power play, composite penalty efficiency, two-player power-play, two-player penalty efficiency, major power play, major penalty efficiency, composite hot seat, hot seat two-player disadvantage, hot seat major disadvantage, and earned goal average, and wherein the final statistics are, in turn, obtainable from intermediate statistical data, the improvement, wherein the intermediate statistical data are identifiable by a combination of respective letters and/or numbers, and are feedable into a standard calculator or computer so as to obtain the final statistics therefrom and wherein the connecting device is composed of a longitudinal carriage adapted to having a timing chart affixed thereto, and a converting apparatus for obtaining the intermediate statistical data from the box score.
