Patent number: 11963691Abstract: A surgical instrument, has an end effector that includes an ultrasonic blade, and a clamp arm that moves relative to the ultrasonic blade from an opened position toward an intermediate position and a closed position. The clamp arm is offset from the ultrasonic blade to define a predetermined gap in the intermediate position between the opened position and the closed position. A clamp arm actuator connects to the clamp arm and moves from an opened configuration to a closed configuration to direct the clamp arm from the opened position toward the intermediate position and the closed position. A spacer connects with the clamp arm to inhibit movement of the clamp arm from the intermediate position toward the closed position for maintaining the predetermined gap between the clamp arm and the ultrasonic blade.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2020Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Cilag GmbH InternationalInventors: Ryan M. Publication number: 20040193634Abstract: Systems and methods of managing regulatory information are described. In one aspect, a library of submittal components is accessed. Each submittal component specifies respective submittal content. The submittal component library is queried based at least in part on information relating to a regulated product and at least one regulatory approval objective, wherein each approval objective specifies a compliance approval type and a target market in which the product is regulated. Based on the submittal component library query, a universal submittal package is generated. The universal submittal package comprises a set of submittal components for generating at least one submittal package. In another aspect, regulatory rules are accessed. The regulatory rules specify content required to satisfy at least one regulatory approval objective for at least one regulatory agency in a respective target market in which a product is regulated. A library of submittal components is built.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2003Publication date: September 30, 2004Inventors: Guy Goodlett, John Monroe, Kathleen S. Pickett

Patent number: 5701502Abstract: The functions of two virtual operating systems (e.g., S/370 VM and S/88 OS) are merged into one physical system. Partner pairs of S/88 processors run the S/88 OS and handle the fault tolerant and single system image aspects of the system. One or more partner pairs of S/370 processors are coupled to corresponding S/88 processors directly and through the S/88 bus. The S/370 processors are alien to the S/88 Operating System, i.e., not in its configuration tables. Means are provided to isolate partner pairs of S/88 processors from the S/88 Operating System and couple the S/88 processors directly to corresponding pairs of S/370 processors for interaction therewith, transparent to the S/88 Operating System.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1994Date of Patent: December 23, 1997Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ernest Dysart Baker, John Monroe Dinwiddie, Jr., Lonnie Edward Grice, James Maurice Joyce, John Mario Loffredo, Kenneth Russell Sanderson
