  • Patent number: 5959387
Abstract: A method for winding a field assembly for a universal motor and apparatus produced thereby is disclosed. The method involves winding both a field winding and a brake winding over different field poles within a field core simultaneously. After the first field winding and the first brake winding are wound, the field core is indexed to allow a second brake winding to be wound over the first field winding, and a second field winding to be wound over the first brake winding. By using the disclosed method, a field assembly is produced in which both field windings and the brake windings are wound using one continuous wire for each. Moreover, the presented method can be performed on a single winding machine.

  • Patent number: 5874794
Abstract: A pair of semicylindrical magnet segments are secured against the inner surface of a motor shell of a permanent magnet motor by wedging an elastic locking element into each space between the magnets. Each locking element has an enlarged head portion that extends beyond opposite ends of the magnet segments, the lock elements maintaining the magnet segments in position, circumferentially, radially and axially, within the motor shell to form a shell-magnet subassembly. An assembly fixture is used to support and align the elements during their assembly. A motor armature, including a commutator, is inserted within the subassembly, and end caps having bearings and brushes are bolted to respective ends of the motor shell to form a complete motor.

  • Patent number: 5428258
Abstract: An armature for an electric motor having a laminated core assembly attached to the motor's shaft. The laminated core having a plurality of coil slots in which the armature coils are wound. A slot liner is disposed in each of the coil slots and an insulating disc is swagged onto the shaft which engages the ends of the slot liners preventing their longitudinal displacement during the winding of the armature coils.

  • Patent number: 4060252
Abstract: A transfer apparatus or mat comprised of a generally flat plastic base member having a plurality of ball members received in and extending outwardly from the bottom face thereof in a predetermined pattern. Ball bearing members are received between the ball members and base to facilitate ease of rolling ball members relative to the base. The mat or transfer apparatus provides easy transport means along a ground or floor surface for machines and other objects which are placed on the top face thereof. Means are provided for interconnecting a plurality of the mats in a side-by-side relationship to increase the size of the transfer surface as may be necessary when moving large objects.
