Patent number: 10983541Abstract: A method of generating a control signal for a temperature control system is disclosed. The control signal has one of an “on” state in which the temperature control system is to be activated and an “off” state in which the temperature control system is to be deactivated. The method comprises calculating a temperature error measure in dependence on a target temperature and a current temperature value. A rate of temperature change in the environment is determined and used to set a variable error threshold. The method switches between a continuous “on” signal mode and a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) mode, in which the output signal comprises alternating “off” and “on” periods in accordance with a PWM pattern. The switch occurs in dependence on the temperature error measure and the variable error threshold.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2016Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: BRITISH GAS TRADING LIMITEDInventor: John Mulcahy

Patent number: 10513525Abstract: Saxitoxin analogue compounds, compositions, pharmaceutical compositions, methods of synthesis of saxitoxin analogues, methods of imaging, methods of treatment, including methods of treating pain, are provided. Saxitoxin (STX), gonyautoxin (GTX), and zetekitoxin, and variant STX compounds bind to sodium channels and are effective to reduce or block flow of sodium ions through such channels. Such channel block affects nerve and muscle action, and may be effective to reduce or block pain sensations, relax muscles, reduce muscle spasm, and reduce wrinkles. STX analogue binding to sodium channels may also be useful to locate, image, or mark sodium channels, and so be useful in studying sodium channels and sodium channel disorders, and in the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from sodium channel disorders. In embodiments, the variant STX compounds include conjugates having increased serum half-life as compared to STX when administered to a subject.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2015Date of Patent: December 24, 2019Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: Justin Du Bois, John Mulcahy, Brian Andresen, David C. Patent number: 10222079Abstract: A battery-powered environmental control and/or sensor device is disclosed. The device includes a mounting plate arranged to be affixed to a support surface; and a main body including a battery compartment. The main body is adapted to be releasably secured to the mounting plate, with the battery compartment being substantially inaccessible when the main body is secured to the mounting plate. The mounting plate and main body comprise complementary securing elements arranged to secure the main body to the mounting plate. The mounting plate or the main body include a lever having a portion extending beyond a periphery of the device so as to be operable by a device user when the main body is secured to the mounting plate. The lever is operable when activated to disengage the complementary securing elements and separate the main body from the mounting plate to provide access to the battery compartment.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2015Date of Patent: March 5, 2019Assignee: British Gas Trading LimitedInventors: John Gutch, John Mulcahy, Yves Béhar, Noah Murphy-Reinhertz, Moonchul Kim, Mirko Ihrig

Patent number: 10106549Abstract: Provided herein are compounds, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds, and methods of using the compounds and compositions in treating conditions associated with voltage-gated sodium channel function, for example conditions associated with pain. The compounds are 10?,11?-modified saxitoxins. The compounds are optionally additionally modified at carbon 13. In certain embodiments, the 10?,11?-modified saxitoxins are of Formula I: where R1, R2 and R3 are as described herein. Also provided herein are methods of treating pain in a mammal comprising administering an effective treatment amount of a 10?,11? modified saxitoxin or composition to a mammal. In an embodiment, the mammal is a human.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2015Date of Patent: October 23, 2018Assignees: SITEONE THERAPEUTICS, INC., THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LELAND STANFORD JUNIOR UNIVERSITYInventors: Hassan Pajouhesh, George Miljanich, John Mulcahy, Justin Du Bois, Matthew Axtman, James Walker, Jeffrey E.
