  • Patent number: 9532144
Abstract: A loudspeaker (100) comprising: an electro-magnetic motor (114) configured to receive electrical signals and, based on the received electrical signals to induce vibrations in a diaphragm (116) for generating a pressure wave; a surround (118) connected to the diaphragm for suspending the diaphragm from a driver chassis (120); and a damper (126) in contact with the surround for damping the vibrations in the surround and the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 9516396
Abstract: A bracket for attachment to a first speaker and for suspending a second speaker therefrom. The bracket comprises a suspension member configured for attachment to a second speaker and defining an axis about which a second speaker is free to rotate when attached to the suspension member and an adjustable end stop configured to limit the maximum amount of rotation of a second speaker about the axis of rotation.

  • Publication number: 20050157894
Abstract: A music signal is supplied to a bandpass filter. The output of the filter is supplied to a first channel of a surround sound encoder and the music signal is supplied to a second channel of the encoder. The encoded signal is supplied to a surround sound decoder and then to an array of loudspeakers for creating a soundfield in a venue. The filter extracts sufficient of the sound of, for example, a musical instrument and the encoder allows the apparent location or direction of the extracted instrument to be placed and moved with respect to the soundfield.

  • Patent number: 6650760
Abstract: An upper base/low mid loudspeaker comprises a conical driver and a channel defined by a housing and a central member. The central member has a portion extending into the cone to form a first generally ring-shaped region whose cross-sectional area increases in the direction of sound propagation. A second generally ring-shaped region is defined between a portion of the housing and a portion of the central member. The cross-sectional area of the second region decreases in the direction of sound propagation. The channel continues with a throat and a horn.

  • Patent number: 6557664
Abstract: A loudspeaker is disclosed in which a cone driver operates into one end of an acoustic channel having acoustically closed sides and an acoustically open front. A longitudinally extended member is mounted directly in front of, and in alignment with, the driver, so as to restrict the free space within the channel. The rear of the longitudinally extending member effectively extends within the voice coil former, such that the volume defined between the rear of the longitudinally extending member and the loudspeaker is an annulus. The profile of the longitudinally extending member differs in its vertical and horizontal planes so as to provide a lower acoustic impedance in one plane than in the other.

  • Patent number: 6536554
Abstract: A loudspeaker comprises an electroacoustic driver in an enclosure having upper and lower ends. Plates are provided at one end and fixing devices are provided at the other end of the enclosure. The plates have holes which allow them to pass over fixing devices of a vertically adjacent loudspeaker. Each of the fixing devices comprises a pillar for passing through the hole of the plate of a vertically adjacent loudspeaker and a locking element connected to the pillar and moveable between an unlocked position for passing through the hole and a locked position for holding the plate on the pillar.

  • Patent number: 4836327
Abstract: An improved sound reinforcement enclosure is disclosed which incorporates a cone-type loudspeaker operating into a generally cylindrical channel extending from the perimeter of the cone to free air. A central member is coaxially mounted within this channel, the central member having rear surfaces substantially parallel to the surface of the cone and external surfaces which, with the internal surfaces of the channel form an annular region, the central member also having at least one coaxial internal passage forming a concentric horn flare. Methods of coaxially mounting a high-frequency compression driver behind the magnet assembly of the loudpseaker and of mounting a second loudspeaker internally in an enclosure are also disclosed.
