Abstract: An intraluminal, balloon expandable stent for implantation in a body lumen is disclosed. The present invention provides a lumen support stent with an unobstructed through-lumen for use in a blood vessel. A constraining mechanism is provided for securely maintaining the stent in the collapsed condition during delivery. The stent is preferably formed with a series of interconnected slide and lock mechanisms for permitting movement from a collapsed condition to an expanded condition and inhibiting radial recoil from the expanded condition. The stent may be formed from a shape memory alloy for providing crush-recovery after deployment.

Abstract: Tissue connector assemblies having at least two piercing members, each releaseably coupled to a surgical fastener such as a surgical clip. A flexible member such as a suture may be used to couple one or both piercing members to respective ends of the fastener.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump is provided that is configured to facilitate safe maintenance of the pump. The pump can comprise a pump body having a pump head and a head cover and a safety switch mechanism. The safety switch mechanism can comprise one or more sensors that allow the pump to detect whether the head cover is in an open or closed position. When the pump is powered-on, the pump can be configured to enter a maintenance mode when the safety switch detects that the head cover is in the open position.

Abstract: A method is provided for extending useful life of tubing of a peristaltic pump. The method can comprise switching inlet and discharge hoses between respective inlet and outlet ends of the tubing of the peristaltic pump, and reversing a direction of rotation of a rotor of the peristaltic pump. In implementations of methods disclosed herein, the useful life of the tubing of a peristaltic pump can be approximately doubled.

Abstract: A peristaltic pump is provided that can comprise a safety switch in order to control an operational parameter of the pump in response to a state of the pump. Additionally, methods are provided for maintaining and replacing tubing of the pump. A tubing installation tool is also provided for handling industrial tubing during installation or removal of the tubing from a pump.

Abstract: A tissue connector assembly having a flexible member and a surgical clip releasably coupled to the flexible member. A needle may be secured to one end portion of the flexible member with the surgical clip coupled to the other end portion of the flexible member. A locking device may be used to couple the flexible member to the surgical clip. A method for connecting tissues is also disclosed. The method includes drawing tissue portions together with a clip assembly and securing the tissue portions together with the clip assembly.

Abstract: A water cutting assembly with an increased stream cohesiveness to improve the efficiency of water cutting operations. The water cutting assembly includes a nozzle, a nozzle nut, and an orifice assembly that defines a collimating chamber to reduce turbulence of the water before it exits an orifice passage in the orifice assembly.

Abstract: In one implementation, a PCB having an array of vias and electrical terminals disposed on the side of the PCB opposite the side configured to receive a grid array package are disclosed herein. The array of vias have pads and forms a pattern of repetitive rows and columns. A substantially consistent intervia distance is defined along an intervia axis between each adjacent via in each of the rows and columns. A pair of electrical terminals are positioned adjacent one another along an electrical terminal axis between at least two of the vias and the electrical terminal axis intersects the intervia axis. In another implementation, a group of four adjacent vias form a substantially rectangular shape having one of four vias positioned at each of four corners of the rectangular shape. One electrical terminal is positioned within the four vias without contacting any of the four vias.

Abstract: A surgical irrigation system is suitable for endoscopic and other surgical procedures. A hand held handpiece has a forward protruding hollow tip for supplying irrigation liquid to a surgical site, a hand actuable control for controlling irrigation liquid flow to the tip, and an irrigation liquid inlet. A self contained pumping unit is locatable adjacent a source of irrigation liquid and remote from the handpiece. The pumping unit comprises a housing containing an outlet for irrigation liquid, a pumping member for pumping irrigation liquid through the outlet, a motor for driving the pumping member, and an electric battery assembly for energizing the motor. An elongate tube connects the pumping outlet to the handpiece irrigation liquid inlet for supplying pumped irrigation liquid to the handpiece.

A respective message from a group of messages that includes pre-defined messages is selected in response to an action by the user. A message is generated. The generated message includes the selected message, a recommendation for the identified media file and a link to a location that is specifically associated with the identified media file. The link is configured to provide access to the media file when activated. The message is transmitted to at least one recipient using a network.

Abstract: This invention relates to a vibrating cleaning device. Said vibrating cleaning device includes a handle portion, a vibrating shaft portion, said vibrating shaft portion having a proximal end and a distal end, a cleaning head portion, a damper, an electric motor, an offset weight; said cleaning head portion adapted for use with removable cleaning pads, wipes or cloths; said cleaning head portion comprising of a plurality of vibration enhancing segments. The vibration action of the cleaning device enhances the cleaning capability and efficiency of the cleaning device thereby improving upon the cleaning process. The electric motor may be situated in a variety of areas within the cleaning device, such as within the shaft itself or in the head unit of the cleaning device. Said head unit incorporates a plurality of vibration enhancing segments and is capable of receiving a variety of removable leaning products such as disposable cleaning pads, wipes or cloths.

The device preferably comprises one or more longitudinal filament members of varying cross sectional shapes which may or may not be coiled to suit a particular clinical need. The embolic device is placed through lumens and cavities to reach areas in the body which require embolism to achieve a particular clinical objective.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for notifying a previously unsuccessful mobile calling party of a mobile called party's availability, in which a home location register causes an announcement to be sent to the unsuccessful calling party indicating that the called party is currently unavailable and that the calling party will be sent a short message when the called party becomes available. The called party status is then monitored and once the called mobile becomes idle or active, the HLR facilitates, utilizing a short message service center, sending a short message to the caller indicating that the called party is available to receive a call.

Abstract: A method for processing meter data into a common format includes receiving, in a first transmission, meter data using a satellite communications network in a common protocol, the meter data representing information read at time intervals from associated utility meters in at least two data formats, each data format associated with a type of utility meter. The meter data in the plurality of formats is processed into a common data format. The meter data is stored in the common format as interval data for transmission to a customer.

Abstract: The present Inter-System Message Delivery System increases the SMS text message delivery success rate. When a mobile subscriber station roams outside of the confines of the cell in which it is presently registered, the delivery of SMS messages to mobile subscriber stations fails, since the mobile subscriber station is not present in the Serving Mobile Switching Center to receive the SMS message. This is particularly common when the mobile subscriber station is moving within the confines of a border cell or multiple cells of a Border Mobile Switching Center and is not yet registered at this Border Mobile Switching Center. The SMS message delivery process initiates a page to the mobile subscriber station via inter-system or inter-Mobile Switching Center paging.
