Patents by Inventor John Nolting

John Nolting has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20070061007
Abstract: A stent is differentially coated to accommodate areas of high strain. A therapeutic coating is applied to only those areas of the stent that do not experience high strain. This allows a therapeutic coating to be chosen for its elution characteristics, for example, rather than for its ability to withstand high strain. An elastic coating may be applied to the areas of high strain. The elastic coating may or may not include a therapeutic agent.

  • Publication number: 20070027530
Abstract: An intraluminal device, an intraluminal stent delivery system, and a method of manufacturing the same. The device comprises a body including at least one strut. The strut comprises at least one raised portion positioned on an outer surface of the body. At least one therapeutic agent coating is positioned on the strut. The therapeutic agent coating comprises an effective therapeutic agent coating area greater than about 50 percent of a strut total surface area. The stent delivery system includes a catheter and the stent disposed on the catheter. The manufacturing method includes providing a body including at least one strut. The strut comprises at least one raised portion positioned on an outer surface of the body. At least one therapeutic agent coating is applied on the strut to an effective therapeutic agent coating area greater than about 50 percent of a strut total surface area.

  • Publication number: 20060210600
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for treating a vascular condition that inhibits restenosis adjacent to the ends of a stent by delivering a therapeutic agent to the vessel wall at and beyond the stent ends. The system comprises a catheter and a coated stent operably coupled to the catheter. The coated stent includes a plurality of therapeutic coatings disposed on the distal and proximal ends of a stent framework. A plurality of therapeutic agents is released from the plurality of therapeutic coatings, the therapeutic agents being released sequentially to inhibit restenosis adjacent to the ends of the stent. The system may further include a therapeutic agent and a timing coating disposed on a mid-portion of the stent framework.

  • Publication number: 20060149365
Abstract: The stent (120) with an eccentric coating (130) of the present invention provides a coating having a different coating thickness on the stent outer diameter and stent inner diameter, i.e., an eccentric coating. The eccentric coating can be the primary carrier for a drug or other therapeutic agent. The eccentric coating can be thicker on the stent outer diameter to supply more drug to the vessel wall in which the coated stent is deployed and less drug to the vessel lumen. In one embodiment, a cap coating (125) can be disposed on the eccentric coating to protect the eccentric coating, control the elution rate from the eccentric coating, provide an additional drug carrier, or provide combinations thereof. The eccentric coating can be applied by spraying a coating liquid on the stent outer diameter with a fixture mandrel interior to the stent to regulate the spray to the stent inner diameter.
