  • Patent number: 11922908
Abstract: The present invention is a thumb rest that has a wedge body that attaches to a string instrument such as a bass or guitar. The wedge body has fastening holes, extruded ridges, contoured edges, and a string instrument facing side. This allows for a less permanent modification to the instrument. The fastening holes are circular holes that traverse into the wedge body. The extruded ridges are rectangular sections extending from the wedge body. The string instrument facing side is the flat side of the wedge body. The proposed implementation allows a user to remove and or move the thumb rest at any time.

  • Patent number: 10387512
Abstract: Systems and methods for deriving and using an interaction profile are described. In one described method, a plurality of metrics indicating a level of satisfaction for search results is determined. The metrics comprise at least one of click-duration data, multiple-click data, and query-refinement data. The values of the metrics for a plurality of instances of an object, such as search results from a search engine, are determined. An interaction profile for the object, based at least in part on the values of the metrics for a plurality of instances of the first object, is then determined. This interaction profile may be used in a variety of ways, such as determining the quality of ranking algorithms and detecting undesirable search results.

  • Patent number: 9314836
Abstract: A link member with wear crutch, the linking member including a pair of side arms and at least one integrally formed loop end portion, the inner surfaces of the side arms and loop end portion defining a friction surface, the inner surfaces of the respective side arms diverging from one another away from the loop end portion and the wear crutch including two curved surfaces arranged as an outer and an inner surface, the outer surface to abut a surface of the linking member in a loop end portion and the inner surface presenting a wear surface for the linking member, and whereby the outer and inner surfaces intersect one another at opposite ends of the wear crutch along common edge portions, and a pair of substantially parallel locating arms adapted to abut respective surfaces of the linking member such that said common edge portions each engage an adjacent arm in a substantially flush manner when the wear crutch is seated on the linking member.

  • Patent number: 9152698
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for identifying substitute terms. According to one implementation, a method includes receiving an original query that includes one or more query terms; obtaining initial search results in response to the original query; identifying an over-represented term in text associated with a subset of the initial search results; determining that the over-represented term is associated with a particular query term; and in response to determining the over-represented term is associated with the particular query term, revising the original query to include the over-represented term.

  • Patent number: 8990210
Abstract: Web pages of a Website may be processed to improve search results. For example, information likely to pertain to more than just the Web page it is directly associated with may be identified. One or more other, related, Web pages that such information is likely to pertain to is also identified. The identified information is associated with the identified other Web page(s) and this association is saved in a way to affect a search result score of the Web page(s).

  • Publication number: 20140358904
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for evaluating terms that are candidate substitute terms for query terms, and revising search queries to include substitute terms. When search results are returned in response to a search query, text associated with a search result is examined to identify a particular term that is not found in the search query. The association score for the particular term as a substitute for a query term is incremented.

  • Patent number: 8321201
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that identifies a synonym with N-gram agreement for a query phrase. During operation, the system receives a candidate synonym for the query phrase. Then, for each term in the query phrase, the system determines whether the term is a lexical synonym of a corresponding term in the candidate synonym or the term shares meaning with the corresponding term in the candidate synonym. If this is true for all terms in the query phrase, the system identifies the candidate synonym as an N-gram agreement synonym for the query phrase. The system then uses this identified N-gram agreement synonym to improve synonym mappings for query terms and/or query phrases.
