    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for measuring a quality of insulation surrounding rotor bars of a rotor of a squirrel cage motor. The method includes the steps of applying an alternating magnetic flux to opposing ends of the rotor measuring a power level absorbed by the rotor as a result of the applied alternating magnetic flux. The method further includes the step of using the measured power level as a relative measure of the quality of the insulation of the rotor bars.
