  • Patent number: 10013328
Abstract: A method is provided for indicating to a user that a sink device is incorrectly connected to a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) In port. In accordance with the method, a proxy voltage is applied from an HDMI In port over an HDMI cable. The proxy voltage is sufficient to cause a hot plug event to occur. A hot plug event condition is detected at the HDMI In port from a device that is connected to the HDMI In port via the HDMI cable. Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) is read from the device at the HDMI In port over the HDMI cable. In response to receipt of the EDID, a determination is made that the device is a sink device and an error message is generated in response to the determination.

  • Patent number: 9161081
Abstract: A method is disclosed for checking HDCP link integrity in a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) transmitter. From an HDCP receiver communicatively coupled to the HDCP transmitter by an HDCP-protected interface, a single-bit value indicative of HDCP 1.1 feature support is read. When the single-bit value is true, HDCP Enhanced Link Verification is used in the HDCP transmitter. When the single-bit value is false, the method determines whether the HDMI receiver supports HDCP Enhanced Link Verification, and if so, HDCP Enhanced Link Verification is used in the HDCP transmitter.

  • Patent number: 5912970
Abstract: A sync suppression, phase inversion scrambling system for a television signal is modified to improve its anti-piracy attributes SAW filters are switched during horizontal intervals to introduce scrambling The switching is a function of a mode signal and framing code signals of two different widths A false framing code signal is inserted during the vertical interval to switch the filters.

  • Patent number: 4802213
Abstract: A TV scrambling system includes means for scrambling a TV signal by phase reversing the carrier at a horizontal rate. A sound masking circuit includes a phase locked loop which operates at five times the horizontal frequency. The program sound signal is used to frequency modulate the VCO in the phase locked loop and the output is added to the regular program sound for modulation onto an RF carrier to create an interfering sound signal. Detection of the program sound signal in an unauthorized receiver is accompanied by beating between the 5 H harmonic of the phase reversal frequency and the interfering sound signal, which masks the program sound.
