    Abstract: A tamper-indicating device is provided for use with two relatively movable parts. In a preferred embodiment, the device is incorporated in a tamper-evident closure having a closure body and a cover for engaging the body in a closed position. A resilient member is carried within the cover, and a releasable retaining structure is provided for holding the resilient member in a maximally deformed first orientation within the cover when the cover is in the closed position. When the cover is opened, the resilient member is released so as to assume a less deformed orientation. The cover includes an inspection means for permitting visual inspection of the released resilient member to indicate that the cover has been moved away from the initially closed position.

    Abstract: A one-way valve positioned between the nozzle and container of a disposable douche, which is opened and closed by axial movement of the nozzle relative to the container, permitting discharge of the douche contents without permitting backflow. The neck of the container opening having an intermediate cap with axial discharge holes and a flexible valve disk overlying such holes all within the bore of the base of the nozzle. In the closed position, the inner shoulder of the nozzle base seat against the flexible valve disk presenting discharge of the contents through the discharge opening of the intermediate cap. With the axial displacement of the nozzle away from the main body of the container the valve disk, freed of the internal restraining shoulders of the nozzle base, can flex to permit flow of the contents of the container into the nozzle.

    Abstract: A container closure is provided with a structure that permits it to be readily disassembled and assembled for use on a container defining an opening communicating with the container interior. The closure includes a body and a cover separate from the body. The cover is adapted to be pivoted about an axis between a closed position occluding a dispensing orifice in the body and at least one open position spaced away from the dispensing orifice. An axis-defining structure is provided on either the cover or the body for defining the pivot axis of the closure, and also includes a cam surface around the axis. The other one of the cover or body is provided with a receiving structure for engaging the cam surface to mount the cover to the body for pivoting about the axis. Either or both of the cover and body is elastically deformable. The deformable structure is least stressed when the cover is at one of the open positions.

    Abstract: A drop and stream dispensing closure is provided for use on a container. The closure includes a closure structure for being mounted to the container, and the closure structure defines a dispensing opening and a vent opening. A cover is provided on the closure structure and includes sealing plugs for sealing both the vent and dispensing openings. The cover may be moved to an orientation in which the dispensing opening is open but the vent opening is closed. The cover may also be moved to a fully open orientation wherein both the vent opening and dispensing opening are open.

    Abstract: A dispensing closure is provided with a body portion and a strap connected to the body portion. The strap includes a plug for occluding a dispensing hole in the closure body portion and may include a projection for anchoring the strap to the closure body portion through another hole. A vent tube may be provided through the anchoring projection. For providing tamper indication, an orifice-defining anchor portion may be mounted in the dispensing hole of the closure body portion and connected via a frangible web to a retaining member overlying a portion of the strap.

    Abstract: A snap-action closure is provided with a body for being mounted on a container and with a cover hinged to the body. The closure includes two spaced-apart connecting elements. Each connecting element is joined to the body with a first hinge and to the cover with a second hinge so as to locate the connecting elements offset on one side of the main hinge axis when the cover is in the open position. Each connecting element has a generally linear configuration adjacent the cover and body when the cover is in the closed position and has a non-linear configuration lying generally in a plane parallel to the main hinge axis when the cover is in the open position.

    Abstract: An improved two-piece child resistant closure formed from an integrally molded assembly. An integrally molded closure portion connected to a collar portion by a frangible web, is adapted to be forced into an open-topped collar portion. The collar portion defines a recess to receive a closure clutch ring having a greater diameter than the recess defining portions of the collar portion, thereby to retain the closure and collar portions in assembled relationship. The clutch ring defines teeth on its upper surface and the collar portions defines complementary downwardly forcing teeth. The leading edges of the teeth which cooperate in the screw-on mode are generally vertical, and the trailing edges of the teeth which cooperate in the screw-off mode are inclined at a substantial angle to the vertical, whereby unless substantial downward force is exerted in the screw-off mode, the collar teeth are cammed upwardly by the closure teeth to defeat unscrewing of the closure.
