  • Patent number: 5922148
Abstract: Directionally solidified superalloy components having a bulk sulfur concentration of less than 1 part per million by weight are provided by vacuum melting a charge to form a superalloy melt, desulfurizing the melt by contact with a calcium-bearing desulfurizing agent for a time to reduce sulfur concentration of the melt to less than 1 ppm by weight, casting the melt directly or following solidification and remelting in a ceramic investment mold, and directionally solidifying the melt as cast components without adverse bulk sulfur pick-up subsequent to desulfurization to provide castings having a sulfur content below 1 ppm, such as in the range of hundreds of parts per billion to provide significantly improved oxidation resistance.

  • Patent number: 4921437
Abstract: A sealed electrical connector assembly comprising an insert molded header, a sealed connector plug matable in an exterior header cavity and an unsealed connector plug matable in an interior header cavity is disclosed. Each connector plug incorporates a secondary lock and terminal position assurance. An outer housing cover forming a portion of the mating envelope at the forward end of the connector plugs can be secured to the forward section of the insulative housing only when a resilient latch, forming a primary latch, is in a fully seated position. If the latch is in the deflected or not fully seated position, an abutting ledge on the housing cover will engage the deflected latch to prevent assembly of the housing cover to the insulative housing.

  • Patent number: 4682829
Abstract: A surface mounting socket suitable for use with dual in-line circuit packages and printed circuit boards adapted only for surface mounting is disclosed. The socket has a plurality of terminals each having perpendicular sections which form a compliant termination to a surface mounting pad on the printed circuit board. Each terminal is compliant about a longitudinal force along two orthogonal axes and is compliant in response to a torsional moment about a third orthogonal axis.
