  • Patent number: 6412176
Abstract: In order to improve adhesion between the skin and a razor guard provided at the leading edge of a razor cartridge, the guard is provided with a large number of small concavities. These are preferably, but not to limited to hemispherically shaped concavities and are discrete and thus isolated from one another. These concavities can act as suction cups that increase the adhesion between the skin and the guard and thus tension the skin as the razor is drawn thereover. These concavities or dimples can also contain a reserve of shaving preparation for release on multiple passes over the same area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 28, 2000
Date of Patent: July 2, 2002
    Assignee: American Safety Razor Company
Inventors: Frank H. Prochaska, John P. McAllister

  • Patent number: 4093981
Abstract: A microprogrammable data communications preprocessor exercises detailed control over a multiplicity of data lines communicating with a microprogrammable central processor while requiring central processor attention on a message basis only. Further minimization of central processor intervention is achieved through a direct memory access channel which permits data transfer directly from the preprocessor to the main memory of the central processor. The preprocessor also includes a line adapter associated with each data communications line for interface purposes, a scratch pad memory for storing data line parameters, and a microprogrammable serial byte microprocessor. Operational speed is enhanced through the inclusion of automatic operation logic which effectively by-passes the serial byte microprocessor for an automatic transfer of two bytes of data.

  • Patent number: 3972024
Abstract: An improved microinstruction memory addressing method and apparatus within a serial-bit microinstruction processor incorporating internal, serial-byte transfer, is provided by addition to and alteration of memory control circuitry wherein the resulting permissible microinstruction set for controlling the processor may be expanded to include a CALL, GO-TO and EXECUTE operations, thus increasing the programmatic capabilities in the processor. The micro-code needed to define more complicated program operations, and thus the time used to perform these operations, may therefore be greatly reduced. Changes may also be made in existing timing circuitry.
