Abstract: The invention regards a hinge interconnecting a first member and a second member for pivotal movement about an axis of rotation. The hinge comprises:(a) a first member having a first pivot retaining portion and a second pivot retaining portion, each of the pivot retaining portions being fixed to the first rotatable member along the axis of rotation; and(b) a second member having a first post member matable with and axially insertable into the first retaining portion, and further having a second post member matable with and laterally insertable into the second retaining portion.

Abstract: The hinge includes a plurality of pintle members that are spaced from each other along the axis of the hinge and that are of generally semi-circular shape and have an arcuate outer surface on a first side thereof and a generally flat surface upon the opposite side thereof. The flat surfaces of some of the pintle members face in a direction opposite to that of the flat surfaces of other of the pintle members. The hinge further includes generally channel shaped knuckle members, some of which face in a first direction and other of which face in an opposite direction. Assembly of the hinge is effected by movement of the barrel and pintle members laterally into engagement with each other while maintaining confronting surfaces thereon in substantially coplanar relationship with each other.

Abstract: The cabinet has a plurality of discrete sections that are formed of molded plastic material and that have mating male and female connectors thereon by which the sections can be easily and quickly joined together by unskilled persons having few if any tools. Sections of the cabinet include an upper section that is pivotally movable between forward and rearward positions relative to a rear section of the cabinet, and further include door sections that are pivotally movable relative to opposite side sections of the cabinet and to the bottom section. An elongate shaft, which may be and illustratively is part of a wheel assembly, extends through the opposite side and rear sections and secures the cabinet sections in place. Compartments and sliding drawers within the cabinet are adapted to receive articles of differing types. Movement is imparted to the cabinet by a handle secured to its rear section. Rails upon the rear section permit sliding movement of the cabinet up and down stairways.

Abstract: The plastic blow-molded container of the present invention is illustrated in the form of a tool chest including a lower tool compartment that is initially blow molded in a flat condition with side walls being simultaneously molded with and joined to a bottom wall by integral flexible plastic hinges so that the side walls can be raised up into right angular relationship with the bottom wall. The simultaneous blow molding of the walls of the compartment in flat condition with the bottom wall permits the integral formation of drawer supporting ribs extending inwardly from the side walls and also permits the formation of a compartment having a greater depth than has been possible in known types of unitary one-piece blow-molded containers. Support ledges are integrally formed on the interior walls and adjacent the living hinges so that the side and rear walls are rigidly supported on the support ledges when the rear and side walls are raised up into right angular relationship with the bottom wall.
