Publication number: 20220072732Abstract: A power tool includes a switch moveable between a first position enabling activation of a motor and a second position disabling the motor. The power tool includes a trigger movably coupled to a housing of the power tool between an OFF position and an ON position. The switch moves from the second position to the first position in response to the trigger moving from the OFF position to the ON position. The power tool includes a trigger lock-off pivotably coupled to the housing between a lock position and an unlock position. The trigger lock-off is engageable with the trigger to inhibit movement of the trigger from the OFF position to the ON position when the trigger lock-off is in the lock position. The trigger lock-off allows movement of the trigger from the OFF position to the ON position when the trigger lock-off is in the unlock position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2021Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Drake J. Schlosser, Benjamin Gordon, John P. Patterson, Hans T. Banholzer

Patent number: 11187427Abstract: An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is a portable device for managing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment configuration. The portable device includes a memory, a user-operable switch having a read position and a write position, and a controller interface coupled to the memory and the user-operable switch. The controller interface is configured to be coupled to an HVACR controller. The controller interface is configured to detect whether the user-operable switch is in the read position or the write position. The controller interface is configured to, responsive to detecting that the user-operable switch is in the read position, execute a read operation comprising obtaining a first set of configuration parameters from the HVACR controller.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2019Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: Johnson Controls Tyco IP Holdings LLPInventors: Szymon A. Jaworski, Roy M. Rader, Timothy J. Riesch, Kevin C. Luty, Alan D. Carlson, John P. Patterson, Vanitha Aenugu

Patent number: 10823444Abstract: A pressure control device for controlling a compressor includes a pressure sensor configured to measure pressure of a pressure line and a processing circuit. The processing circuit is configured to receive the measured pressure of the pressure line from the pressure sensor and control the compressor based on a set-point and the measured pressure. The pressure control device includes a mechanical switch sensitive to the pressure of the pressure line and configured to move between an open position and a closed position responsive to the pressure of the pressure line. Movement of the mechanical switch into one of the open position or the closed position causes the compressor to turn off and overrides the control of the compressor by the processing circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2018Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: Johnson Controls Technology CompanyInventors: Hendrikus C. Van Eldik, Nathan B. Emlen, John P. Patterson, Philip L. Bushong, Troy L. Wert, Roy M. Rader, Theodore J. Houck, III

Patent number: 6443677Abstract: A nut plate is formed from a generally U-shaped clip having first and second elongated legs and a connecting leg extending therebetween. The first leg has an opening therein for receipt of a nut and for securing the nut in the leg. The second leg has a pass-through opening opposing the nut opening. The nut is fully passed through the pass-through opening for securing in the first leg. The nut can be positioned in the first leg without deflection and urging away of the legs from one another. A method for making the nut plate includes the steps of forming an elongated strip, forming a nut opening in the strip and forming a pass-through opening in the strip. The strip is bent to define a clip having the first and second legs and the connecting leg. The clip can be heat treated. A nut is then passed through the pass-through opening into the nut opening and is secured to the first leg.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: John P. Patterson, Jr.
