  • Patent number: 4831497
Abstract: A circuit assembly including a plurality of integrated circuit chips wherein electrical interconnections between chips at a relatively large distance from each other are accomplished by a conductor bus comprising a first section including conductors running adjacent and parallel to each other for a distance substantially equal to an integral number of half wavelengths of the base frequency of signals of the circuit and second sections including conductors which sharply diverge toward associated integrated circuit chips for electrical connection therewith.

  • Patent number: 4673899
Abstract: A compact waveguide power combiner/divider is characterized by low reflection and dissipation losses. The device includes a radial waveguide having an inlet opening and a plurality of radial outlet openings, and a coupling pin is arranged in the radial waveguide to couple energy from the inlet opening with the radial waveguide. A mode suppression device is connected with the radial waveguide and contains a plurality of radially arranged slots corresponding with the outlet openings. A tuning mechanism arranged within the radial waveguide optimizes the coupling of undesired modes with the slots. An undesired mode absorption device is arranged in cooperation with the slots of the mode suppression device so that undesired modes are isolated from desired modes with low reflection and dissipation losses.

  • Patent number: 4328471
Abstract: A microwave power combiner/divider is matched internally and has increased bandwidth. A microwave integrated circuit disk within the housing has high impedance radially directed quarter-wavelength lines to obtain an impedance match for the desired mode at the centered coaxial port. Bridging half-wavelength lines between adjacent peripheral ports match the undesired mode and connect to absorbing resistors; these lines also provide bandwidth compensation. The housing has an annular shield with an opening near the centered coaxial line to provide a high choke impedance.

  • Patent number: 4301347
Abstract: The heating uniformity of a microwave oven is significantly improved by a feed that radiates rotating elliptically polarized electromagnetic waves. A pair of crossed slots in the feed rectangular waveguide has directional characteristics and radiates energy with right-hand and left-hand circular polarization. A variable phase shifter in the waveguide changes the phase of one of the polarizations. Both polarizations interfere in the oven cavity and produce rotating elliptically polarized waves. The circular polarizing element can be a 3-dB hybrid coupler or a turnstile junction.

  • Patent number: 4291278
Abstract: A broadband, low loss, microwave integrated circuit power combiner for field effect transistors and other solid state amplifiers has a single metallized MIC substrate contained within a waveguide structure. An array of fin-line transitions from plural microstrip lines to a standard output waveguide can be tapered and placed directly in the waveguide taper region. Undesired higher order modes are absorbed by resistance metallization strips at the tips of the fin-lines or by resistor networks which bridge the microstrip lines.

  • Patent number: 4013974
Abstract: A broadband Impatt diode amplifier for microstrip includes a two-section quarter wavelength impedance transformer. Since the width of one transformer section exceeds a half wavelength, spurious mode resonance is suppressed using a longitudinal slot with an absorbing resistor or by offsetting the transformer sections. A compact configuration combines the power of two microwave diodes over a broad frequency range.
