  • Patent number: 5427770
Abstract: Dentifrices, including toothpaste creams and gels, and mouthwashes, are provided including aminoalkyl silicones. In the mouth, the aminoalkyl silicones form a lasting hydrophobic film on the teeth for prevention of cavities and stain. Antimicrobial compounds such as chlorhexidine may be included.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1993
Date of Patent: June 27, 1995
Assignee: Chesebrough-Ponds USA Co., Division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: John P. Viccaro, Samuel Lin, Todd Domke, Alexander G. Ziemkiewicz
  • Patent number: 5188822
Abstract: Oral composition containing an oil-in-water emulsion, wherein the oil phase of the emulsion includes an aminoalkyl silicone and a lipophilic compound and the aqueous phase includes an emulsifier. The lipophilic compound is soluble in the aminoalkyl silicone. Preferably, a lipophilic antimicrobial agent or a lipophilic flavorant is employed. The aminoalkyl silicone forms a substantive film on the teeth surface and the lipophilic compound is deposited, along with the aminoalkyl silicone, on the teeth surface. Thus, the enhanced deposition of the lipophilic compound is attained. The pH of the compositions is preferably at least 7.0. The compositions are preferably applied by brushing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 1991
Date of Patent: February 23, 1993
Assignee: Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., Division of Conopco Inc.
Inventors: John P. Viccaro, John S. Bajor, Alla Tartakovsky
  • Patent number: 5154915
Abstract: Dentifrices, including toothpastes and mouthwashes, are provided which include aminoalkyl silicones and sarcosine surfactants. In the mouth, the aminoalkyl silicones form a lasting hydrophobic film on the teeth for prevention of cavities and stain. Antimicrobial compounds such as chlorhexidine may be included.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 23, 1990
Date of Patent: October 13, 1992
Assignee: Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., Division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Thomas R. Weber, Nancy H. Krysiak, John P. Viccaro, Samuel Lin, Todd Domke
  • Patent number: 5078988
Abstract: Dentifrices including modified amino alkyl silicones are provided. The aminoalkyl silicones are modified with epoxides to alkylate the nitrogen atoms and decrease their reactivity to flavors and other aldehydes present in the dentifrice. The modified silicones form a hydrophobic layer on the teeth for prevention of caries and stain.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 28, 1988
Date of Patent: January 7, 1992
Assignee: Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Samuel Lin, Colleen Parriott, John P. Viccaro, Todd Domke
  • Patent number: 4430324
Abstract: The present invention discloses a composition, comprising: (i) an amount of ammonium fluorometallate effective to treat, control or substantially prevent oral problems, diseases or conditions; and (ii) a carrier for said fluorometallate suitable for use in the oral cavity. It also discloses a method for treating, controlling or substantially preventing oral problems, diseases or conditions which consists essentially of contacting dental tissues, surfaces or oral cavity with ammonium fluorometallate or a preparation thereof including nonfluoro ammonium metallate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 1982
Date of Patent: February 7, 1984
