  • Patent number: 5543063
Abstract: A method of treating fungible produce at a wash station having a floor, comprising the steps of washing the produce, using a wash nozzle, with liquid containing a chemical treating agent. Effluent from the washing is collected in a storage tank. Liquid in the storage tank is conducted to a secondary tank, via a screen. Liquid in the secondary tank is conducted to a self-cleaning, self-backwashing filter. Back wash is conducted by gravity to a plurality of bag filters which collect particulate and discharge the filtered back wash into the secondary tank, above the screen. Liquid is conducted from the lower outlet of the self-backwashing filter to the storage tank. Liquid from the storage tank is conducted to the wash nozzle. The chemical treating agent is not filtered out by any of the filtration steps so that the chemical treating agent contained in the effluent from the washing may be reused and need not be dumped.

  • Patent number: 5301284
Abstract: Object spaces which mechanize higher order relationships between attributes which describe a particular problem domain. An abstract object description defined by a set of attributes and their corresponding values is transformed into a mixed-resolution, N-dimensional object space. The mixed-resolution, N-dimensional object space represents a mechanized, logically encoded expression of attribute relationships that can be visualized. The method and apparatus interleave the frame to generate an object descriptor and generate from the frame and the object descriptor, encoded names of spatial locations for each of the N dimensions of the mixed-resolution, N-dimensional, object space, conforming to a primary form of a reflected binary code. A virtual image of the N-dimensional, object space is generated from the dimensional-spatial locations and resolution-spatial locations, and attribute values corresponding to a region of the virtual image may be selected for display.

  • Patent number: 4122523
Abstract: A centralized traffic control system for complex railroad areas analyzes the intended path of travel of various trains to determine the existence of any conflicts. When one or more conflicts are detected, the system analyzes various options to resolve the conflict with a minimum disruption to the system based on predetermined constraints. The analysis proceeds on the basis of a heuristic search for conflict resolution. A successful resolution of the conflict is then implemented without requiring operator intervention.
