    Abstract: A coextruded heat sealable film made with nonoriented polyester and a heat seal layer comprising about 50% to about 80% of a copolyester and about 20% to about 50% of an olefin polymer is disclosed. In one preferred embodiment the polyester base layer includes from about 1% to about 5% of a polyolefin, LLDPE being preferred; and in another preferred embodiment the polyester base layer comprises a resin which is a nonoriented film form has a tensile strength of 7,000 psi or more. The heat sealable film can be laminated with aluminum foil, paper, etc. to form a composite which is heat sealable, useful in pouches and lidding stock. The heat seal layer using about 30% to about 40% LLDPE as the olefin polymer is particularly useful when the film is laminated to aluminum foil and heat sealed as lidding stock to crystallized CPET trays.

This film has a base layer ("A") of polypropylene homopolymer, polypropylene copolymer or combinations thereof, a heat sealant layer ("C") of polyester/copolyester or blends thereof and a tie layer ("B") of modified polyethylene homopolymer, modified polyethylene copolymer, modified polypropylene homopolymer, modified polypropylene copolymer, an unmodified polyethylene copolymer or combinations thereof between the base layer ("A") and the heat sealant layer ("C"). This film has three layers ("ABC") or five layers ("CBABC"). This film exhibits a very broad heat seal range and has a moisture vapor transmission rate of from about 0.20 to about 1.0 g/100in.sup.2 /24 hr. This film has a wide variety of applications as a packaging film including such demanding uses as the inside of a microwave popcorn bag. This film significantly improves the shelf life of microwave popcorn compared to conventional films used for this product.

    Abstract: Bales of unvulcanized rubber, vulcanized rubber or compounding ingredients for unvulcanized rubber are packaged in film or bags made from syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene (1,2-SBD) containing at least one antiblock agent additive and at least one slip agent additive. Coextrusion can be used to manufacture bags or film having two or more layers where only the inside layer is heavily loaded with antiblock additives and the outside layer contains only a minimal amount of antiblock additives with both layers containing slip agents. The use of 1,2-SBD serves to eliminate the problems of incompatibility and disposal encountered in the prior art and provides film and bags having superior puncture and tear resistance when compared to a conventional material such as polyethylene.
