  • Patent number: 7044870
Abstract: A composite hockey stick blade having molded outer surfaces defining a rough surface finish on a portion the outer surfaces. The molded outer surface of the blade adapted to enhance friction between the blade and a puck. The blade may also comprise shock-absorbing elements embedded into the molded outer surfaces of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6033328
Abstract: A hockey stick handle having a pair of opposed narrow sides, a pair of opposed broad sides, a rear end, a forward end portion, and a longitudinal axis passing through said ends, the forward end portion being configured for engaging a blade. The handle has a longitudinally extending sandwich composite member. The sandwich member has three longitudinally extending substance zones. The substance zones has a rigid plastic foam spacer zone and two wood side zones. The side zones are spaced apart by the spacer zone. The three substance zones are configured and disposed such that each side zone individually faces a respective side of one of the pairs of opposed sides of the handle and such that together the two side zones and the spacer zone each face both of the sides of the other of the pairs of opposed sides of the handle.

  • Patent number: 5577725
Abstract: The present invention, relates to a hockey stick shaft or handle having both a forward and a rear gripping zone. The gripping zones each have elongated opposed faces which are of different configuration from each other. For example each gripping zone may be provided with opposed concave and convex faces but wherein the faces of one gripping zone are disposed in reversed relative relation to the other gripping zone in order to accomodate the different gripping position of each hand of a user. A hockey stick provided with such a handle may provide a sense of a better or more comfortable feel on the gripped portion of the handle and/or a sense of a more comfortable and precise control of a blade which may be fixed to the end of such a handle.

  • Patent number: 5306003
Abstract: The present invention, relates to a shaft or handle wherein the palm or upper side of the shaft has corner edges whose radius of curvature, at least in the grip area(s), is greater than the radius of curvature in the corresponding finger area(s); a hockey stick provided with such a handle may provide a sense of a better or more comfortable feel on the gripped portion of the handle and/or a sense of a more comfortable and precise control of a blade which may be fixed to the end of such a handle.

  • Patent number: 4815147
Abstract: A hockey glove (40) has a set of knuckle protective pads (42) which follow the position of the player's knuckles beneath the pads (42). Break lines (44) are arcuate in shape and incline rearwardly toward wrist portion (46) of the glove (40) from base (48) of thumb portion (50) of the glove (40). Break lines (52) extend between the break lines (44) and are inclined at an acute angle relative to longitudinal direction (54) of the glove (40). Break lines (56) between protective pads (57) on fingers (58) of the glove correspond to the different positions of middle joints on the player's hand, i.e., they are not positioned in a straight line. The rear break line (44) separates the protective pads (42) from protective pad (43) for the back of the wearer's hand. The construction of the protective pads (42) and (57) and the break lines (44, 52 and 56) on the glove 40 allows the player to grasp hockey stick (20) in a natural grip.
